Midday Fishing Report – Sussex Offshore Fishing Charters Ltd
On board Lady of the Lake III
We locked out at 0900 this morning and headed just inshore to try for some mackerel. A couple of marks produced a few bream, with some good signs of life on the ground.
With the odd cod showing recently, we fancied ourl luck equiped with pulley pennells with large baits and Boooooom r – it paid off! Our youngest angler today, just 16 years old, put the seasoned hands to shame by landing a cracking 7lb cod. A proper fish and a proud moment for him – couldn’t ask for better.
With cod starting to show, we’re looking forward to more over the coming weeks.
Fancy getting in on the action and hitting the wrecks and reefs or the known ground.

Fishing Report – Sunday 10th – 8 Hour Wrecking Trip
Crew of 8 on board today. Wasted no time – got the 8 o’clock lock and punched straight out to sea, heading for some of my favourite wrecks.
First two wrecks didn’t produce much – just the odd gurnard and a surprise mullet about a foot long. Sadly, it never made it over the rail – fell off when it was already out of the water. Shame they didn’t wait for the landing net! We also lost another pollock right on the surface.
Barry turned the tide, though, hooking into a nice bass, then we followed it up with another on the next drift. We also had some monster mackerel coming aboard. Plenty of hits on the lures, a few solid takes, and a few fish landed – but it was hard work today.
The crew gave it everything. Not every day is the same out here, but that’s fishing.

Aboard Lady of the Lake 3 – Sussex Offshore Fishing Charters
What. A. Day.
We locked out at 0630 with a crew of 8 aboard Lady of the Lake 3 and were absolutely blessed with the weather – perfect conditions for an inshore reef session.
There was a big decision to be made this morning – offshore or inshore. The last two days it’s blown up out there, so we played it smart and stayed inshore... and we 100% made the right call.
Dropped the pick and fished the flood for a solid 3 hours, then drifted over the ebb and repositioned the other side of the mark. From first drop to last – non-stop action. Proper bream fest, with some stunning red mullet in the mix and even a big smoothhound to top it off. Couldn’t have asked for better.
And the crew? Absolutely brilliant – easily one of the best charters I’ve had the pleasure of skippering (actually no, scrap that... definitely one of the best).
The lads fancied a little drift for plaice and a few mackerel to finish, so we steamed a mile inshore – and boom – more bream! Couldn’t get away from them. A few macks showed, no plaice this time, but the banter was flowing and the laughs were non-stop.
Biggest bream (a proper slab!) went to the young lad from the party of 3 – nicely done!

Also – a massive thank you to everyone who’s taken the time to leave me those 5-star Google reviews. It really means a lot. As a skipper, it’s my job to make sure your day’s enjoyable, safe, and memorable – and reading your kind words honestly makes it all worth it.
And to those of you who rebooked straight after we docked – thank you again! That says it all. Looking forward to getting you back out there.
Cheers all – tight lines!

Sussex Offshore Fishing Charters Ltd – Trip Report: 27th July 2025
Skippered by Jamie Page aboard “Lady of the Lake III"
Today we had a full crew of nine onboard for our 0900 lock-out. Lines were off the quay by 0830, and we headed out to find a few mackerel. Unfortunately, the conditions were rough and the mackerel didn’t show, so we didn’t hang about—time was better spent making use of the flood tide with high water due around 1400.
We pushed out to College Rocks and dropped the hook on the main reef. There was constant action all morning—plenty of bites and small black bream. A few made the grade for size, and we had some variety too with a nice gurnard and a few lively congers coming up to the deck.
As slack water hit, we moved to another known bream spot on the reef but found it tough going. The big tide and a steady north westerly wind didn’t help—making it hard to lie straight at anchor. Still, the crew stayed at it, and we shifted again, this time slightly inshore to North College Rock. A few more keeper bream showed there, but it remained a challenge throughout.
We made the 1630 lock back in, and I’ve got to give credit where it’s due—massive well done to the whole crew for sticking it out in hard conditions. A tough day, but plenty of laughs, plenty of bites, and a few nice fish in the boxes.

Charter Report – 19th July
A tough start yesterday with wet and windy conditions first thing – proper soggy for a few hours! The crew stuck it out though, digging deep and keeping the lines wet. Persistence paid off in the end, and once the sun finally broke through, the fish came on. Some cracking sport on the bream to finish the day, but the highlight was Dave’s Thorneback ray – well deserved after a gritty morning. Good effort all round.
