The crew from Devon were reinforced by the Plymouth Bretheren noted for their abstinence of strong liquor and strong language. In spite of this or because of it we had a thoroughly good day on plaice with most people having a fish in excess of 4lb. It was not a good day for turbot probably due to the easterly winds but as ever, young Colin tried his best to put us over the fish of a lifetime. The crack was terrific and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

The Blacksmiths Arms FunTime Anglers (BAFTA) went back to Weymouth with high expectations following the awful weather we had last September which restricted our fishing in 2009. 3 days of fishing which started with a real bang when Buzz got hold of a 20lb 8oz turbot .. what a start!. The Saturday brought a mixture of fish (pollack, pout, doggies) but it was day 2 when the fish really started to bite .... Colin took us 20 miles out in a flat calm sea to drift a number of wrecks. With beautiful sunshine above us, the team managed to land over 50 fish (ling, bass, pollack, cod) with everyone scoring good points in the Flamer competition. It was back to shore for a great chinese (apart from a fish bone incident for one of the team members!!). Day 3 was a tad rough with heavy fog and some interesting moments listening to ships fog horns which tested Colin's superb radar skills and another good number of fish caught (Danny landed a nice 12lb Pollack). We have already booked for next year as we find Colin an excellent skipper and really helps all of us to get the best out of our fishing trips :-)

IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON CATCHING GOOD FISH THEN RING COLIN!. We have just returned from 3 days fishing. We are a group of lads that I reckon fall into the novice bracket of anglers. We love our fishing but we are relatively new to it. Colin is so helpful and patient and always ready to give advice and guidance, as well as arming the kettle!! On day one we had fantastic weather and drifted the Shambles which produced a 20+ Turbot to Buzz . Moved to the mussell beds later on which produced an array of species. Days 2 and 3 were spent wrecking. This produced good sized Cod, Pollack and Ling. I cannot recommend Colin highly enough based on his knowledge, value for money, great sense of humour and enthusiasm. We have returned from Weymouth with a number of things, stories you wouldnt believe, an array of nicknames, cracking photos and importantly, a brilliant fishing experience. So get your phone and book Flamer III, you wont be disappointed. MB

Fished 3 days of a 5 day special on Flamer. On Monday we had a great days reef and bank fishing landing double figure Smoothies (biggest going 14lb) and double figure Spur Dog (biggest was 19.5lb caught by Dodgy Dave). On Wednesday we had a go at the Wrecking landing Cod to 18.5lb and Pollack to 12lb. Couldn't fish the Thursday which was a special species comp sponsored by Ammo baits and only using Ammo baits. The comp was won by Mick Nunne. Friday saw us back on the Wrecks drifting for Cod, pollack, Ling and Conger - this was a great day weather and fish wise for most on the boat with many of the anglers catching all four species (apart from me - I only managed 1 Cod whilst all around me fish were coming thick and fast but that's fishing). During the Week the guys who fished all 5 days also caught dabs and Turbot with the normal Doggies and pout these all counted toward a week long species competition that kept the interest going throughout the trip. Overall a great week and next year i will fish all 5 days.

My first proper flattie trip and had two plaice on the first two drifts. Colin was great at talking everyone through which rigs to use and how to present the bait for the two different types of species we were after. Great early morning plaice session and then a good few hours after the turnot - some lovety ones came to the other anglers in our party....but I guess I'll just have to wait for my first turbot. Thank you Colin for another entertaining day and for sorting sunshine and calm seas! Well worth the early morning drive down from Wales.

Saturday 27th March - had my best ever wrecking trip. Not only did I catch a PB pollack and a PB ling, Colin took some great photos which ended up in an angling magazine. I also won a prize of a £90 fishing rucksack which I'm really pleased with. Really looking forward to the next one.

Second Plaice and Turbot trip with Colin this year. Best fish of the trip was a fantastic 6lb Plaice, unfortunately not on my line, thta said I did get another personal best of 3lb 12oz (another 4oz closer to the 4lb mark) and there were a number of 4lb plus fish landed so they are there to be caught just need to persevere. In the afternoon we had another go at the Turbot as we did on the last trip - 8 Turbot on the boat and I didn't get a single one but that's fishing. One lucky guy from Bristol landed 3. Overall another good days fishing on Flamer 3.

Fished for Plaice and Turbot with Colin today. Had some good plaice to over 4lb on the boat I managed a personal best of 3lb 8oz. In the afternoon we had a go at the turbot with 2 comming aboard around the 4-5lb mark befoer we had another go at the Plaice. In total we had 10 plaice and 2 turbot on the day which all in all was pretty good. Have another trip with Colin on the 23rd so hoping to crack the 4lb mark.

Simply had to write and say thanks for a terrific day on FLAMER III on the 20th February. We had a great day and really appreciated the time and effort you put in to ensure a good days fishing. I received a rod and reel from People Sport for the 18lb 4oz Pollock so thanks for entering me into the competition. It was good to see my picture in the Boat Fishing Monthly magazine - not sure about telling the world I am 60 though. Thanks again for making it a trip to remember and hope to see you again for another day out on FLAMER III.

Followed up my trip on the 13th with another on 15th - seemed rude not to have another go seeing we had had such a great day on the Saturday. As we got on the boat Colin advised that the previous day had not been as good as the Saturday trip but with good weather and smooth seas it still had the makings of a good days fishing. We tried the Wreck we started out on the Saturday first, fish started to come aboard straight away but after a couple of hours (during which I had nothing) and a couple of fishless drifts Colin decided a move was necessary. On the next Wreck we had fish from the first drift and caught steady throughout the afternoon - including a few bonus Ling to lures again. With an hour to go we moved to a new wreck and landed more fish before it was time to leave for port. After a slow start I managed a 5 fish hall (best around 13lb) and we ended the day with a good catch all round. On the last wreck we had company from another Weymouth boat who advised that they had struggled all day to catch fish so looks like Colin's knowledge had saved our day.
