Having fished aboard Flamer1V several times this year, I suppose I could be considered as " one of Colin,s regulars".The review below is certainly not my experience and does not appear to be that of others if you look at the ratings. As we close on 2012 with one more trip booked this year, I have boated several PB,s under Colin,s guidance and vast experience and become a far better angler.Whilst I was not aboard to witness the "incident" reviewed below, it is not a common occurance. Quite the opposite with anglers more than willing to share catches with those who have not had a "red letter" day. Flamer1V and Colin Penny rank as one of the best charters in the South West and that is no accident. It is because he works at it !!

Skippers Reponse: Thanks Very Much Trevor for putting your views.

Had a good day out in hard conditions, but overall day was ruined by one of the skippers regulars suddenly emptying our entire catch of bream. On the way in I notice one of our fellow anglers start to scale fish from what seemed to be the fish box my friend and I were using. I challenged this action with the skipper and was told I hadn't marked our fish therefore it was acceptable for Alan the chaps name was to help himself to the fish. As for marking the fish I had already gutted them and I was very conscious that no other fisher was adding fish to the box and since Alan was fishing with a friend at the other end of the boat he was adding his fish to a box there. The skipper did stop the boat and had a very half hearted attempt to get Alan to own up, but it felt nothing more than an act. Shame nice boat and the skipper knows his stuff but very unlikely to suggest another trip out, left very bad feeling we left at 1:00AM to get there was a shame and a disappointment really no need for that, he knows his regulars and this seemed to be a common occurrence

Skippers Reponse: This is certainlly not a common occurrance on Flamer IV as generally anglers are responsable enough to mark their fish with a coloured cable tie and do not take others fish.

Planned as a flattie trip the weather held a treat for us luckily so a prompt start took us straight to the plaice grounds.despite the howling wind and a lot of gurnards to contend with the odd plaice began to show.Couple of cups of tea later and after a move saw more of us catching with Andy Wheale of The Weymouth Angling Team smashing his PB with a 5lb spotty.the plaice started to come thick and fast with me knowing that if i was going to break my PB of 3lb odd then today could give me the chance as the stamp of fish being landed were astounding! well to cut a long story short with colin's vast experience and some reassuring words of encouragement one of the last plaice i landed on the day absolutely replaced by PB with a fish of 6lb2oz! all of us aboad had a superb day with Andy breaking his PB 4 times over.many thanks.see you soon Colin.Jon

Skippers Reponse: Thanks for the review Jon,I have never seen a person so over whelmed with a PB catch.WELL DONE.

A hastily re-arranged diary when a wrecking trip was blown off the previous week saw us after the flatties. Yet again Colin was on form with several nice plaice to the boat and it was great to see rods achieving a grand slam of turbot, plaice and brill. Some rods having not fished for flatties before, benefitted from Colin,s wisdom and assitance and then went on to catch good fish. Another great day -- thanks Colin

Skippers Reponse: THANKS for the Thanks Trevor and hope to see you on Flamer IV soon.

Had a great time Colin, and learnt a lot. Took 2 of our 3 days to realise that, if you do it your own way you may catch a good fish, if you listen to the skipper and do what you're told you're much more likely to do so! John and I had 8 plaice from 4 to 5 3/4 lbs between us on the last day, plus a Brill of not quite 6 lbs, stunning fishing. An excellent meal at the restaurant you recommended, salt and chilli squid is now my favourite dish and looking forward to doing it all again next spring. Thanks for all your hard work and being great company as well. Regards, Steven and John Norman.

Skippers Reponse: Thanks Steve,I look forward to seeing you next year and don't forget to listen to your skipper.I look forward to joining you for some salt and chilli squid in the Ming Wah chinese restaurant.

Just a quick thanks from all onboard Flamer IV who had a great time on Sunday. We scratched together a few folks for this one given the original trip was blown off. Jocks V Taffs V England V Cornwall, the banter was excellent. As usual Colin was on the money with some great tips for all of us (those that listened) and constantly worked to ensure we were maximising any chances of getting a fish onboard. All in all a great day and we will be back again. For those interested the sweep was won by Wayne Miller representing England with a 6lb 1oz Brill. I managed my first turbot also, not massive but well chuffed. Thanks Colin and see you again very soon. Rgds Mac

30 June and a scheduled wrecking day. The sun was out but the wind had other ideas! So a change of plan was necessary to rescue something out of the day. Colin decided a species hunt competition would be fun and test our metal! It was great to see so many different species come to the boat. Apart from the usual suspects of dogfish and mackerel, there were smooth hounds and rays, the best being 12lb. Then of course, Mr Penny, not content with his crew catching, has to then show them how it is done and promptly lands a 20lb sunfish, the first many of us had seen. This guy to fish is like bees searching for honey- he can find them anywhere!! Top rod of the day finished with 134 points and another great day under our belt. Thanks Colin .

Skippers Reponse: Thanks Trevor and I am glad you enjoyed the different trip done than the one originaly planned.

after three years of trying, we eventually went out with colin on flamer iv, and the wait was sure worth it. I've been secretary of my club now for four years, and we've had numerous charter trips, some were good skippers, some not so, but without a doubt colin is by far the best. so if you're serious about your fishing do yourself a favour and give colin a ring....... superb days fishing, thanks colin, hope to see you soon.

Skippers Reponse: Thanks John, you were a good bunch of guys and a pleasure to have on Flamer IV.
