Great day out with Dave at the helm. Plenty of fish on board for all with a good few of the whiting over 35cm long and destined for the dinner plate. Frehening (!!) wind and squalls ment we had to come in a bit early but when the anchor ends up astern thats a fairly sensible call! great day and am looking forward to the next trip.

Skippers Reponse: Glad Dave found the fish for you Paul, you would think he could control the weather as well. What is he like! Thanks for coming out . Jon.

Went out and had a wonderful time on the high flyer. Caught a few Whiting and Dabs today and the trip was very smooth even as the weather turned rotten later on in the day. Great trip overall. Thanks to the crew of the High Flyer.

Skippers Reponse: Thank you Shannon, hope you got a feed , i know your partial to whiting fillets! Least we got the day in before weather turned. Typical english weather! Thanks mate. Jon.

We had a great day aboard the High Flyer. We were a larty of 9 where 2 of us had never fished before. Jon steamed us out to marks to fish for Skate first thing, despite there being fish all over the fish finder it wasnt our day for Skate, but some decent whiting and Dab to ensure some sport. We then steamed back in and Jon demonstrated the power of those big Iveco's as we reached a mark just off Corton in no time. more whiting and Dab here. Jon,having found out some of the boys hadnt yet caught made it his mission to help them land a fish, and for two of them it was their first ever fish! Once the night crept in we had a session of fish after fish before returning to the High Flyers moore. An excellent day of fun had by all, including SAS trained Roland! Tea, Coffee and biscuits were handed round including a mid day soup to warm us all. Many thanks, Jon. We will return.

Skippers Reponse: Thanks Nigel for review was hard days fishing but we pulled through ok, sorry for getting you all home late but they started to bite!! Be good to see your crew again ,good crack. Jon. (High Flyer)

Great trip with Jon as always. headed out 12 miles to look for skate but didn't expect the bank to be eroded by 20ft or the seas to be as big as they were. We gave it a go and got doggies and whiting but no rays. Conditions got too rough to be safe so moved in to good old Corton with plenty of whiting and a few flatties for our efforts. Cod still not showing yet. Great day with plenty of banter and 2 skippers for the price of 1! Thanks Jon see you again soon when the cod will hopefully have shown up!

Skippers Reponse: Thanks Paul, what a day! Fishing ended up ok i thought pity about the skate got them next day!!! Bloody typical. Appreciate you coming out,. Jon.

  • 5-star David Stott (02/11/2013)

Another fine day with Jon onboard the High Flyer, set off a bit later than normal due to SW winds and a flooding tide, so set sail at 10:00 and headed out off Corton, good sea colour, and with a little chop. Started to see some Whiting come onboard, the bigger ones taking either Black Lug with squid or mackeral on size 4/0 or 5/0 hooks. Regular supply of tea and coffee which is always welcome. Did move a few times in search of them codling. Thanks again Jon, see you again very soon.

Skippers Reponse: Thanks James, only a few codling this weekend still too warm i reckon. Thank god for whiting! Cheers mate.

  • 5-star Steve Wren (30/08/2013)

My first trip out with Jon. Have to say the fishing wasn't great but that is hardly the skippers fault. He spent a lot of time during the day trying to find us fish. I hooked a tope first thing but sadly lost it as Jon was about to haul it aboard, unfortunately the fishing died after that. Nevertheless a great day with a knowledgable skipper. Cheers Jon. I will be back, Steve

Skippers Reponse: Hi Steve, pity we lost that one, thats fishing saving you another one though! Hard day after that even the mackerel were being evasive! Appreciate you coming out fingers crossed for next time.

Absolutely first class day! Anglers all, and kayak anglers at that so used to fishing hard and often but this was different - way further out than normal (14 miles), deeper than normals (113ft), for different and larger fish than normal (tope) and different tactics than normal (jigging wrecks for cod). Jon often gives us a wave in passing and checks we're okay when we're out so when it came to taking us out he layed on one hell of a fine treat by taking us to new and unlikely (for us) territory and boy did he produce the goods. Top tip: LISTEN TO YOUR SKIPPER! We all learnt a lot of good stuff today. Good coffee, bisciuts, chocolate bars, advice, tackle, banter; we saw loads of porpoises, had a comfortable and spacious boat to fish from with good facilities and most of all fish (dream fish for some!). Thank you Jon, we'll see you for the cod if not before!
