Another great days fishing with Jon. As usual he knew where the fish were and where to head when things got a bit choppy. Buisy day with all the whiting, dogs, hounds and the first of the spring codling coming aboard. The bacon rolls and flow of tea and coffee kept tehbite of the wind at bay. Many thanks for a brilliant days fishing.

Even the skipper can get them!!! AFter holding Ian's rod for a couple of minutes I was very fortunate to latch into this 13lb beauty.
Still plenty of them around, along with greatly increasing numbers of Cod on the wrecks amongst the Pollack.

head out on a lumpy morning hoping to find some fish tried a few different marks all producing whiting on most casts with the last mark bieng the best with better quality whiting and 1 cod @ 3.5lb stayed a bit longer hoping there would be some more but unfortunately not a good day had by all View Boats Page

APRIL 2012 - MATCH 1 of The FLAMER FOUR FLATTY SPECIES LEAGUE took place on a nice Spring day.First stop was for plaice and four were caught then a drift on the Shambles Bank produced a Turbot caught by Colin Jones.Another session drifting for plaice saw a frantic spell of plaice action with three double shots being caught with Colin Searles getting two in a row with every one else also getting their share to get points on the score sheet.One dab was caught by Ian Youngs.The last two drifts of the day were done on the Shambles Bank were one turbot was caught by Rob Burgin.Colin Searles caught the best plaice of the match and is pictured.
Results - the Top Two were - Rob Burgin 90 points and Colin Jones 70 points.

First evening session of the year a tester really to see whats about at night. Our aim is to pick a tide with slack water around 9pm so we can fish either side generally the best times . Left at 6pm returned home about 1pm, picked out a mark uptide of a small wreck. Had our first doggies of the season in numbers along with quality size whiting few keepers among them. Plenty of dabs on the slack, unfortunately no skate as we had hoped. Thanks to Barry,pictured here with a couple of doggies, Martin, David James,Paul Layton,John and Harry, David Smith and Lee ,was a fantastic calm evening most enjoyable cant wait to go at night again. Set out on a lovely calm day with a wind forcast for later. Headed out for those first skate or bass armed with every bait know to man. Out to a bank only few miles out that has come up trumps for me for those early spring fish. Started off with whiting and dads, few nice doggies among them. Great to see our first smoothhounds of the season come aboard although only small. After slack the wind started to get up proving uncomfortable on the bank so we headed in off a local mark where Paul caught two nice codling pictured here.More whiting and dabs along with the doggies came aboard in all not a bad day for this time of year. Big thanks to the Stamford lads Keith,Ian,Adi this weeks winner! also Paul,and Ken, together with Ben from Northampton, Charlie and son Karl first time on the Flyer and regular customer Paul Layton , appreciate all you guys travelling so far hope you enjoyed your day. Whitby's spring angling competition started here on Saturday. Sadly with the current Northerly airflow down the East coast at the moment we haven't been able to get the competitors away. When we have been this last week though the fishing has been quite good. The inshore ground marks are starting to produce with some nice cod to 9lb on the shad.
The competition runs until 29th April so there is still time to try and grab yourselves the winning first prize of £1000.00 !! We have a couple of days with odd spaces left. Check our website's availability calendar for spaces.

8 rods on the boat today, a couple of seasoned anglers and a few novices. The trip out to the offshore grounds was a bit lively to say the least with wind against tide, but once the hook was set the boat sat steady at anchor. Action on the ebb tide was hectic with skate after skate hitting the deck and at times 3 rods into fish at the same time.As the tide slowed so did the fishing although fish were still coming to the net steadily. The flood started to fish much the same as the ebb finished but picked up as the tide made. There were a few more dogfish around this week as the water temp has increased. Also we saw a greater number of smoothhounds with the largest going just over 8 lb. Final tally for the day was well over 50 roker on the boat with each angler taking a couple for the table and the rest returned. No monsters this week biggest skate was a tad over 11 lb. the crew on board had a really good day out with plenty of fish and the weather went in our favour too.
