    Report on-board Last Laugh

Last Laugh is aptly names as it is a great fishing boat with an outstanding Skipper in John. The best Bass and Wrecking experience I have had. John is a capable and commanding skipper who is devilishly good at finding the fish, and if you don't already know, he will coach you to better catches.

    Report on-board Phosphorescent 'WH1'

It's been a busy couple of weeks since my last report aboard Phosphorescent a mixture of commercial work and 'Lure Only' charters have seen some great fish come aboard. Lots of fat Bass and colourful Wrasse have been smashing the Black Minnows, Crazy Eels and Nitro Shads. Highlight for me thus far has been fishing with Stephen Lamont on Sunday and unlocking a few more secrets between us in my quest to match lures against live bait. Top Angler on Friday was Andy Scott who showed other aboard that Bass Lures catch Bass and Pike lures do not! Finally big congrats to Jon; new to the lure thing he proved on Sunday that it's what's on the end of the line not whats in your hand (I shan't mention the conger / shark rod) by smashing the 4 biggest fish of the day all on Fiiish Blue / White Minnow and when in the deep water his Giant Sayori matched to a 100g Sakura Head. We'll be fishing for Bass right into the Winter in 2015 so keep an eye on the calender and get ready to grab your day to try your hand at this exciting method of fishing. All Best, Rob.

    Report on-board Phosphorescent 'WH1'

I arrived back from a month at sea doing the day job on Wednesday 13th May and headed straight to Phosphorescent to get her sorted for a weekend on the water. Although we have done some great trips between Xmas and now it is this month that I class as the start of our season. Bream and Bass are the main targets this month with Bass taking precedence over the coming weeks and a lot of lure fishing going on too. My Sandeel tank is almost set up and will be getting it's first residents shortly....off up there today to finish putting it together and then it's the struggle with 500 litres of fresh sea water to fill it up!!!

Anyway on to the fishing. As I said in my last report the Bream are now showing in good numbers along the coast and X'church Ledge produced some cracking fish at the weekend. Lots of fish over 2lb with some beasts in the 4-5lb Bracket too. Sunday saw us catch 45 fish in a mad hour and half when after a slow start the fish came on with gusto. The lads had enough fish for the freezer and were keen to have a go for a bass too. We tried unsuccessfully for mackerel but had our trusty FIIISH Black Minnows and a couple of live pout in a bucket from the mornings breaming. Conditions on the Bridge were far from ideal with a big sea due to the full ebbing tide and about 20kts of SW wind over the top if it. A variety of methods were deployed and it was Rod who came up trumps landing a couple of lovely fish...one on a Pouting the other and largest on the Black Minnow. Can't wait to get back out there this week after the weather settles a bit. There are plenty of Stingray, Smoothound, Bass and Bream along the Solent foreshore right now so if you are interested in an evenings super light tackle madness catching these species - Feel free to give me a call. All best, Rob - 07725 563562.

    Report on-board Sea-Juicer

This weekend we had quite a few good size bream coming aboard the biggest 2lb -12oz male fish , good numbers of Smoothounds starting to show up to 12lb all of which were released . along with a couple Undulates actually being caught on bream gear a great fight on light tackle & small baits . we also managed a nice 3lb squid much to our surprise we got to net it before it let go .
With tides building this week & a reasonable forecast hopefully we should see more bream arriving so fishing is looking good at the moment lets just hope the weather plays its part & stays settled

Check my calender for availability you never know you might catch the one that got away !!!!!!!!!!!

    Report on-board Phosphorescent 'WH1'

After our first attempts to get on Plaice grounds in Christchurch Bay in late March conditions have finally got better with the water looking like the Sea not Tea now. We had to wait until the flood tide got away to get to the mark as the wind was howling early on. We had a steady stream of Dabs, Dogs and Smoothounds before the first plaice turned up. but when they did switch on they fed hard and it was a mad hour and a half of brilliant fishing. All of the Anglers were fishing with very light tackle and those aboard new to it were blown away by the hard fights and savage takes on the HTO ML rods. Blinged rigs are the norm and worm and prawn cocktail the top bait. I did try drop shotting for them after I caught 5 on bait. I had two good takes but I failed to hook up on the Isome Sandworms. (I had far to big a hook on and the fish were just grabbing the end of the lure). One thing that was very obvious was the difference in takes between bait and lure...the fish hitting the lures actually HIT it...like little Halibut we've experienced in Norway. We ended up with 20 Plaice in all with an absolute stonker touching 5lbs to Roger Wheatland right at the end of the day. It's back to work for me until mid May, I'm sure this will fly by as I'm so excited about coming back to hit the Bream and Bass and some more of these fantastic Red Spots.

    Report on-board Phosphorescent 'WH1'

We have just been on a two day / overnight trip to sunny Weymouth. It's this time of the year that the famous Shambles Bank starts to throw up some lovely Turbot and the nearby Mussel beds fish for Plaice, there are also plenty of other species to catch too. 6 of us travelled and had a great night in the Sailors Return and local Curry House meeting up with plenty of other skippers and anglers alike. Everyone landed there target species with a couple PB fish for the guys too. Can't wait to go back.
