Had a great day on the Bream again today the weather was fantastic. Lots of bream on board the biggest was just over 3lb. Also had a conger, smooth hound, pout, wrasse and dogfish. Had a nice group of people on board and it was an enjoyable day. The Anchor decided it liked it there a bit too much and didnt want to go home so we had to leave it there lol. Tomorrow we hit the tope!

The first wrecking trip for the club this year. The first trip with Zac at the helm.
At seven o'clock with ten members aboard and we headed out to the banks to try for a few mackerel.
The north side of the bank produced a few mackerel for bait, as did the south side but we only ended up with a dozen or so.
The next stop was a small wreck well inside french waters where we were soon into good sized pollack on sidewinders and storms of various colours.
After a few drifts that just produced pollack and the occasional pout the activity seemed to stir the ling into action as well so we tried using baits. The ling proved to be unfussy, as besides artificials, they took fresh and frozen mackerel as well as cuttle and squid.
Not wanting to take too much from one wreck we then went off to a larger one a few miles away where we had more pollack and ling and lost a lot of lures bravely trying for cod (unsuccessfully).
The fourth stop was just a couple of drifts over another wreck which also had pollack and ling and then we headed back toward Hayling.
Some of us opted to just gut their fish on the way in, others also removed their heads as well, and some actually filleted theirs.
A great trip. Well done Zac!. A flat sea, little wind, a bit of sun and everybody had ling (up to 22lb) and most had pollack (up to 15lb) to take home.
Biggest fish was a Nigel Cross's ling of 22lb and Roy Hebburn and Mick Doody shared the honours for most species with 4 each.

First trip out this year, 2013 and the anticipation was hugh. Small tides (tick), offshore (tick), light easterly's (tick), 10hr trip (tick), Fish ( ?) always an unknown in this game of fishing and why we play this game.So armed with a head full of new banter required to defend my corner we drew positions and set off.
An hour's steaming saw us drop anchor many miles past the Nab Tower in a deep water fishing one of the many banks. Familiar comments soon came into play " what weight shall I use Skip", " how deep is it Skip", " what rig shall I use Skip", " what we fishing for Skip" and so we began fishing.
Tide was building to a full ebb and would be like this for many hours. So with various weights and baits in the water we waited. Bites soon started as the scent moved up tide bringing the fish in. Would it be Smoothounds, Spurdog, Rays we wouldn't know till we saw colour. I hooked into a fish with some weight behind it and started the long haul. It felt like a Ray and was taking line, more line than I was gaining so after a number of minutes I locked the spool with my thumb and pulled back only for the trace to part company, Grrrr !!. My trace was quickly investigated for the " Pigs tail " of a poorly tied knot. Fortunately it had been rubbed through but I was still a " Wayne Curr *
Good start though and soon we had a number of sizable Blonde Rays on board. Each fish caught measured on it merits of size. Some were a few pounds and discreetly returned. Other were double figures over 20lbs.
The sun was well up by now and with the earlier chill gone it was relaxed fish with smiling faces and packed lunched being broken out..
Once we had slack water we moved a mile or so to another bank ready for the start of the flood. We would stay for the start of the flood with home time coinciding when the flood would be too strong.
The flood didn't bring the number of fish caught during the ebb. In fact from memory it was just the odd Dogger.
So when the time came to up anchor and set off home. We left with smiles on our faces well pleased with day's fishing. We'd had a number of Blondes up to 23lbs/25lbs ( scales were swinging between both weights ) some were personal bests and for others their 1st Blonde Ray and with thanks to the Skipper we all hoped it was a good omen for the season to come.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Sea-Juicer

Well the wind and weather. Hasn't been good for us all again this year, however when we are getting out some nice cod are showing on certain marks. Inshore cod fishing into December. The 2013 diary is up and running with earlier year off shore pollocking in January to get into them before the spawning session which seems to be getting earlier each year. We have had good catches of smoothounds, bream and plaice.
Ray fishing has been excellent with Undulate rays topping the scales at the 20lbs mark, Thorn back rays topping simular weights. We had a 24lb 8oz Blonde ray caught by Dwight Mitchell on one of his first trips on a boat.
Mackeral fishing has been exceptional. We also have had some off shore trips boating Cod ,Pollock,Coalfish and Bass.
