Fishing Report by Matt Rowe
18 Aug 2025 by Matt Rowe
The strong easterly winds this week have been a real pain with most trips being cancelled. But one of my regular groups decided they would make the most of it and try something a bit different and it really paid off . Fishing in the harbour all day they managed to break the record for most species caught in the harbour in one session with 17. Including loads of Black and Gilthead Bream, Smoothounds, Plaice , Flounder, Sea Scorpion, Dragonet,Red Mullet,Thinliped Mullet and even Dace and Rudd ! If you are interested in this sort of trip it can be done on the right tides, but you need to have some angling experience and it works out expensive per person as it can only really be done with a maximum of 4 anglers.
In the Piscary species hunt the boat tally now stands at 56 top 5 so far
Ray Barron 40
Kim Andrews 38
Jay Hemming 38
Darren Phillips 37
Alan Bird 37
Still looking for a stand in for super league this Friday and 2 stand ins for Sunday league on Sunday

Fishing Report by Matt Rowe
16 Aug 2025 by Matt Rowe
After a bit of a slow week fishing wise, mainly catching lots and lots of smallish Black Bream and Congers, we did have 1 bonus Streaked Gurnard the second one this year.So it was great to get out on a absolutely stunning day with some of the Friday species league anglers, although Small Bream and Pout were a real hindrance to their efforts they still managed 23 species on the day. Plaice,Bass, Smoothound, Gurnards,Rays,Congers and Brill, nearly enough for everyone to add one to their species.
In the Piscary species hunt the boat tally still stands at 53 top 4 so far
1st Ray Barron 40
2nd Jay Hemming 38
2nd Alan Bird 38
4th Darren Phillips 37

Quite often the fishing can be very difficult in August, but at the moment it's very good indeed. With the banks still producing some nice flatfish,Big Blonde Rays and the odd nice Bass . The offshore Reef's producing some really nice Tope to over 30lb,Big Bream Congers and Bullhuss.
Just 1 match on the boat this weekend with the Kings Arms Southampton. Reasonable weather and small tides so we pushed offshore, only 14 species but as well as big Tope ,Bream , Bullhuss,3 species of Ray and Congers also had Dragonet and Weaver. Top 3 on the day
1st Chris Super Rod Rogers 263
2nd Richard Dicky Day 225
3rd Ed Taylor 185

Fishing Report by Matt Rowe
10 Jul 2025 by Matt Rowe
Today we held (hopefully) the first Piscary annual summer open. It was a different type of match for us loosely based on international type rules and scoring, where every fish counts. Although it wasn't a species type day we still managed 16 species on the boat. Including 2 Grey Gurnards,3 Red Mullet! Plus the very 1st Butterfly Blenny for Piscary caught by Stainless Steve Bachelor. He wins a free trip for adding a species to the list! Once again we had to fish in very difficult conditions with a strong westerly wind and ebbing tide, but the 10 anglers caught 447 fish between them. Top 3 in the comp
1st Ray Barron 206 £120
2nd Luke Allen 199 £40
2nd Paul Hollyoake 199 £40
The runners up also received TBars and Tubertini fold down buckets supplied by Stainless Steve engineering.
I would like to do some more competitions on this type of format, and it would be great to get enough anglers to make it a multi boat competition with higher prize money. I could possibly do one on Sunday the 21st of September, anyone who is interested in doing it please send me a text
