We had a a bit of a shock this month , We had dropped our passengers of early to catch there coach. leaving us with time to fish so Ian and myself had a go. we ended up with 9 Cod over 5lbs plus numerous rays.We then had a lads and dads day which was going to blow a bit so we fished the river again to have Cod to 6lbs 1oz . The next trip was Bob and his pals we were heading out onto the banks and mentioned about our previous Cod of a reasonable size in the river so they asked to spend a couple of hours in the river which we did it produced 4 Cod around the 5lbs mark and 1 Cod of 6lbs a 1lbs 8oz Plaice various rays 1 small tope and numerous hound to 11lbs on the banks . we have also had rays to 16lbs 2oz and Tope to 46lbs the weather hasnt been that good to us with plenty of strong winds one day flat like glass the next day 2mtr waves

The Winter Cod fishing started slow and carried on like that for most of the winter, although some days did produce 30 to 35 Codling these where rare days, with the average No through the year being around 8 a trip our notable cod where a 10lbs 12oz cod caught by a guy from Notingham Specimun Sea Anglers and the best of the year from Bart from Liverpool who caught a massive 15lbs 1 oz Cod.
The Thornback Rays saved the day early on in the season with catches of rays between 30 and 35 a day. ranging from 2lbs to 14lbs although the Rays stayed till early Dec and came back late January as the water was still warm.
The Whiting throughout the winter season came in large numbers and have stayed this year with one of our anglers catching 65 last week ,We are now fishing for the Spring Cod and also thornback rays Fingers Crossed we had a 16lbs10oz Cod in late March last year .
We are now taking bookings for spring Cod trips and species hunts throughout March and April. May we start Smoothound, Huss, Gurnard ,Pollock,Ling Cod and many other species.Early Summer we fish for Tope , and other species.
Call me for more info on trips and dates available.

    Discovery so far this winter
The Winter Fishing started in October the Mersey was full of Thornback Rays we had plenty of double figure Thornback Rays
Then the Whiting arrived on Mass which was a blessing at first but as the cod came in the whiting destroyed good baits we still had some great days between 25 and 30 cod being are best day we had to wait until November for Notingham Specimen fishing club to come out with us to get our first double figure Cod with Andy lempick landing a 10lbs12oz Cod. We managed a 6lbs plus Cod the following day and then we had a Daiwa day where we take some Daiwa tackle dealers out usually with a bit of a pool Nick Daiwas Rep took this with a5lbs plus Cod .fishing has had a bit of a lull this week with the huge amount of freshwater deposited into the river but we still had 15 cod yesterday dates available for Jan 2019 3,4,14,17,18th full boat 27th of Jan Sunday full boat
Gary ,Lynne and the team would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New year Tight lines

Fairly new to sea fishing so with limited knowledge booked Wave Dancer for myself and 15 yr old nephew. All I can say is we will definitely be booking our next trip with Chris. All the help and tips we needed to catch, Chis consistently put us over the fish and nothing was to much trouble. Plenty caught including smoothound tope dogs whiting and ray. I would recommend Chris on Wave Dancer to anyone. Thanks for a great day.

Trip 2 was a short over the tide trip again on a ray hunt. Young Finn was the first to bag a ray. As he started to real it in you could hear John say “hurry up” within in 3 minutes. When finn landed his 7lb ray John must have said it to him half a dozen times. Thornback backrays startd coming over the rail steadily for next hour or so to the sound of John saying “hurry up”. Then John finally caught one which he took his time reel in to the chorus of “hurry up” a great trip over the tide was had and we caught seven rays and a doggie. The family enjoyed their trip so much they have booked a full trip again already. Looking forward to having stu and his family on board again in August.ww

    Report on-board Wave Dancer

It feels like an eternity since I have written a report so here goes. The first of three trips this bank holiday weekend started with a couple of no shows a 04:00 which left us with just 3 anglers on board today. Rather than disappoint 3 very eager anglers off we went into the river on a ray hunt to warm us up. Fred jimmy and sneaky mick warmed up nicely with 10. Off we went looking for smoothies, initially we found more rays the first of many doggies and I have never been happier to see a doggie ever. Fred then called for the net to land not only his first smooth hound but the boats. I am not sure how many rays and doggies we caught but it was alot.
