    Nov 2019 by Matt Forrester

Well the summer came to a miserable close with a continual steam of bad weather systems! Just the period from the start of August right through to mid November has lost me approx 50 bookings so it's been pretty painful!
On the few days I have got to sea the fishing has been mostly good with some good bass fishing to be had. The biggest so far is only 9lb but Im hoping to better that before the end of the year.
On a more positive note we had our first Bluefin Tuna. The fish took about 1hr 20 mins to beat and was estimated at around 280lb. A real test of every ones skills onboard and a thing of real beauty! I'm sure this is to be the first of many!!! I should point out that the fish was released without being removed from the water and swam away in a good healthy manner.
Please get in touch for more info and to get booked in, thanks Matt

Wow the weather has really improved and we are having some great fishing!!
Im still recommending the long range trips for the serious fishing as it always gives more options but the inshore fishing is defo getting better with the summer bass starting to arrive in numbers!
Good numbers of summer pollock are also keeping us busy, these are generally smaller than the double figure winter and spring fish but with sizes upto around 10lb are still good sport.
We are still seeing occasional cod of the wrecks but not as many as in May and June.
The shark fishinh has been ok with a fe blues coming to the boat, its a late start so fingers crossed we have a good late season with these great fish.
Bookings have increased with the Summer Holidays but theer are still a few mixed group and free days open. Its also a good time to book ahead for Sept and Oct as we have really good bass fishing with the biggest fish showing.
I only take small groups of upto 6 so perfect for a private family or friends charter. Quality tackle and tuition is provided. Please see my facebook page and group for regular update and my website for more info. Thanks Matt, owner and skipper!

Things have been mixed for April so far with terrible Easterlies only 1 trip was run in the first 2 weeks!!! Thankfully weve got it a bit more settled now and trips are getting out when its suitable and I have clients!
The bigger pollock seem to of dispersed now (or been wiped out by the fixed gill nets) but fishing has been good with lots of pollock just into double figures. Cod also seem to be showing and yesterday we had 5 to 7lb along with some new season bass, although small they are a good sign.
Things feel positive for the rest of April and May could be great so fingers crossed.
Please get in touch for bookings or short notice trips as my calander on Charter Boats UK is not always upto date! Check out my face book page and group for regular updates!
    Thanks Matt

I've only run 3 trips since my last report and the good news is the size and numbers of pollock have slowly been creeping up.
However, they still are well behind what is to be expected for this time of year and all charters and rod and line commercials have found the same.
The water temps to the South and West are still higher than normal so this could be one of the causes? A couple more cold snaps wouldn't be a bad thing and we have our fingers crossed that its not 'over' fishing!!!
So, over the last 3 trips Ive fished wrecks through Lyme Bay and to the South. We have had many double figure pollock and the best being 16lb 8oz with a couple coming in over 14lb.
Each trip has seen a better result but we've only really found 1 or 2 wrecks producing fish each trip. On my offshore trips I often travel between 50 and 90 miles and often look at 5 or 6 different wrecks a trip! Other species caught have been Cod, Cuckoo Wreasse and Pout.
Please get intouch with any enquiries and get over to my Facebook group for regular short notice spaces and trips.
    Thanks Matt.

11 Jan 2019 by Matt Forrester

Well November and early December was a total waste of time, my only 5 full boat bookings were cancelled due to the weather!
With the Christmas break and nice settled weather in the first couple of weeks of Jan we've managed to get a few trips out.
Sadly, the season seems to be running well behind and our hotly anticipated new season Pollock have yet to show up!!! We have managed a few but it's usually just a handful of fish for about an hour or two a day. Hardly worth the effort given the mileage we are putting in.
Anyway with that in mind we have turned our attention to some inshore bait fishing. On our first trip we were rewarded with a amazing 18lb Anglerfish and a nice 18.8lb Spurdog, along with a couple more Spurs, whiting, pout and doggies. More trips are likely to happen whilst we wait for those 20lb pollock!!!
There is plenty of choice running out of Torbay with Lyme Bay, Skerries banks, Start Point, Lannacombe Bay and mid channel all within easy reach.
Please get in touch for more info and for short notice trips please join my Facebook group.
    Thanks Matt

6 Oct 2018 by Matt Forrester

Due to annual leave and maintainance Silverhalo only ran 1 trip throughout September.....it was a cracking trip though, with several good bass being caught including an impressive 12lber going to Steve on his first ever bassing trip!
As I write this, at the end of the first week in Oct, the great bass fishing has continued with many more great fish coming over the gunnels.
The next 4 to 6 weeks could see the new boat record being broken again!!! Will it be you? Please get intouch to book your slot and a realistic chance of a double figure bass.
Dont forget I offer many other types of trip including sharks and the porgies are now moving in!

August was amazing with mostly loads of bass being caught. First timers have been catching some great fish up to 8lb 7oz.
I ran 2 shark trips with a total of 10 blues being caught.
I've had the first three weeks of September off and out of the water....so now I'm on a mission to continue with the great catches.
There are loads of bass on the inshore marks and the Porgies are also heading closer in.
Pollack should be arriving in numbers along with the swarms of spratts....there is loads of life out there with dolphins, porpoise and tuna being spotted.
Please get in touch for that booking.

We are having some great bass fishing around Lyme Bay on the inshore wrecks and often close inshore in the tidal races over the reefs.
Fishing both with lures and live bait (when really required) plenty of fish have been caught , even by begineers with bass upto 8lb !

    Jul 2018 by Matt Forrester

The warming waters in July has seen a real drop off in the pollack catches so we have spent our time targeting the bass. They are showing on a few select wrecks and inshore reefs but they are still not at their highest numbers yet. We mostly try and avoid the use of bait and prefer slow jigging and lures on the wrecks. Whilst inshore we get on the light lure gear using spinning rods, much the same as youd expect from the shore. This is great sport and we've had a few wrasse getting in on the action too! This will be one of our growing areas along with some shark fishing so keep checking back and make that booking!

Several of my Lyme Bay wrecks have been producing plenty of good sport. The last couple of weeks we have run several lure / wrecking trips with catches of approx 20 pollack between 4 anglers each time. Lots of pollack between 6 and 8lb and the biggest at 13.8lb, we've also had several bigger fish lost close to the wrecks!
Cod were showing well a few weeks ago but have become a bit harder to find last couple of weeks, biggest going 7lb plus we had a couple of small Ling to 11lb.
Mackerel are now showing up in greater numbers.
Water temps are now good and we've loads of bait fish around :)
Please get in touch and make that booking, spaces still available !
