With the making “spring” tides, the fishing yesterday was a little slow.
The mackerel fishing to start the day however was great sport. The lads gathered enough for the day’s bait stocks in about a minute!!
We dropped on a wreck inshore on the first slack water for just a handful of fish. As the tide sped away we worked the ground where the lads picked a dozen or so small fish with a handful of chuck backs.
A struggle to be fair but as the tide eased back for the second slack water we dropped on a wreck which we took some good fish off a couple of days ago.
A few throw back Ling but also a couple of lovely Cod to round the day off, the best going 10lbs.
Cheers for now and enjoy this great weather!

A dingaling day for the lads yesterday!
A steady fishing on a wreck just over 10 miles from port, with fish to 11 lbs.
We finished the day gathering some fresh mackerel to take home, the likes of which I haven’t seen before!
Strings of monsters to 2lbs which was great sport too!
Nigel Hall taking the best bag with 12 white fish and also the heaviest of the day.
    Tight lines

Some newbies on board on yesterday’s trip.
John Gregg and 6 of his mates from Wakefield and Leeds joining us for the day.
Not a startling day by any stretch but one or two nice fish amongst their catch.
Best fish of the day, a lovely Cod of 14 lbs falling to Tommy, taken on the last wreck of the day just 2 miles from shore!
You never know where the bigger ones are gonna pop out!!
    Cheers

A nice day on the water yesterday with my brother Martin and a few of his mates. A couple of other lads joined us on the trip too.
The morning started fairly slow with a sprinkling of keepers and a few throw backs.
We dropped on a wreck on slack water and it produced some nice fish for an hour or so.
Cod to 10lb and ling to 18lb, so all in all a fair picking for the lads at the end of the day.
Toby Johnson landing the best fish on board.
Still millions of mackerel about too!
The Uptiding Competition dates are 6th November to 21st November inc. Give me a bell if you fancy having a go in that. Tea and coffee will be available.
Cheers for now and keep a tight line.

Not much to report over the last couple of days.
The huge tides are really making things difficult at present.
Just to let you know that we are having a go in this years Uptiding Competition.
This event will run from November 6th to November 21st inc.
There will be some nice cash prizes up for grabs so if you fancy a go, give me a ring or drop me a text/mail.
There will be an entry fee of £5.00 per angler on the day. We will sail with a minimum of 3 anglers in this competition.
A regular angler of ours, Dave Sharp knows just how good the inshore anchor fishing can be. Last winter he landed a cracking Ling just shy of 15lbs in 60ft of water!
    Great sport!!
    Cheers for now

21 Aug 2021 by Rich Ward

Comparatively speaking, yesterday’s fishing was rubbish compared to the previous day with the first lift in the tides.
We targeted a few wrecks in the morning for very little white fish ( still millions of mackerel though! )
In the afternoon we dropped on a few strips of rough ground and managed a half dozen fish.
A lovely day on the water nevertheless with great conditions and great company.
The lads managed around 20 Cod/Ling between them,
    Oh, and 1 Pollack!
    Cheers

A cracking day on the Cod and Ling for yesterday’s lads.
The usual gathering of Mackerel first for the bait stocks and then off to a few wrecks south side of the harbour.

Bill Barraclough from Barnsley clicking a couple of double hookers of Cod, his best going around 6lbs.

Simon England, also from Barnsley taking the best bag with 15 fish himself with 10 or a dozen fish each for the other lads.

Chris Siddle, winner of the Spring competition and who also took the heaviest Cod prize in the Summer competition also with us yesterday. He took the best fish of the day, a lovely Cod of 9lb 12oz.
    Chris is pictured inset.

Cheers for now and tight lines wherever you’re fishing!

Yesterday’s lads enjoyed a cracking 15 minutes on the 2 mile stream gathering their baits for the day, but didn’t enjoy the snotty North Westerly we were greeted with at the start of the day.
We started to the North of the harbour where we picked around 15 fish off 3 or 4 wrecks. A sprinkling of cod and ling mixed.
Out to the grounds on the 5 mile then, where the fishing was still slow with just a half dozen codling caught.
We finished the day off South side of the harbour on a couple of wrecks for another 10 or so fish.
All in all a steady day with good company and around 30 fish boated for their efforts.
    Cheers

A couple of unfortunate mechanical problems has seen the boat tied up for a week or so over the last 2-3 weeks, hence the lack of reports from us.
Back at it now and the last week or so has been ok some days and slow on others.
The last trip out we steamed to the “wall” to get out of the tide a bit and the lads fished ok.
A couple of the lads taking around 10 fish each with cod to 9lb
Matt Spinks taking the best bag with a dozen fish.
    Cheers

This year’s Summer angling competition ended last weekend and the lads who fished on the Shy-Torque III weren’t disappointed.
Dave from Huddersfield was holding 1st place for a short time with a nice Ling of 15lb 06oz which he caught on the 3rd July.
Paul from Bridlington then took the lead with another nice Ling of 15lb 13oz on the 8th July which held the lead through to the end.
Chris from Skirpenbeck, who won the Spring competition with us, took the heaviest Cod prize on the very last day of the competition with a nice fish of 9lb 06oz.
Prizes were :- 1st overall - Paul from Bridlington winning £1000.00
2nd overall - Dave from Huddersfield winning £500.00
Heaviest Cod - Chris from Skirpenbeck winning £250.00

A great event yet again for all concerned and I’d just like to thank all those who fished with us this year.

Paul is pictured inset with his winning fish.

The September competition starts here in Whitby on the 11th September and runs for a fortnight where there will be another £1000.00 first prize up for grabs!

    Cheers and tight lines,
    Rich
