Ken Fusco and 3 of his mates joined us on the Shy-Torque on Monday on the first of their 3 day booking.

The mackerel fishing on the 7 mile was outstanding, with enough bait for the day boated in just one short drift. We ten made our way out to a group of 3 wrecks on the 18-20 mile stream

Rubbish!! 7 fish off the 3 wrecks. Back inside it was then.

The lads managed to save the day working a couple of inshore wrecks and ground and finished off with around 80lb of mixed fish. Best fish was a ling of 13 lbs caught by Ken.

Baited rigs worked the best with the fresh mackerel.

    Cheers

Some steady fishing last week over the last few days of the September comp. Sadly no monsters for the lads this year.

Nigel Hall who won 2 comps with us last year tried for 4 days this year but couldn't reproduce his great fortunes of 2019.

We will continue to work the boat through till around January 2021 when she will be lifted out for her annual checkover so if you fancy a run out with us please give me a call.

    Cheers

    Rich.

Sailed with just the 3 lads yesterday. Worked some scrap 9 miles from shore.

Paul, Richard and Alan picked around 20 fish from the wreck. Mainly cod to just over 6lb. Baited rigs fished the best with fresh mackerel and unwashed squid.

Just 1 day left in the upcoming competition which starts this coming Saturday. Check the calendar for places.

    Cheers

Another couple of slow days for the lads on the boat. Monday's team taking around 25 fish. Really struggled for white fish yesterday with just 15 fish being boated. Fortunately the mackerel are still running in huge numbers!

The baited rigs fishing better for us at the moment.

Hoping for an improvement once this set of spring tides pass.

    Cheers

For some time now a few of my mates have been after doing a trip out to the wrecks where I used to work commercially many moons ago.

On Wednesday this week we managed to get them out to a couple of them. The first stop was the Battleship some 47 miles from Whitby.

We sailed at 4am to catch the remainder of the ebb and arrived there at 7.20am. The wreck clearly hadn't been touched for some time and resulted in some cracking fishing for the lads. The 6 of them ending up with around 450lb of cod!

Best fish fell to Simon England from Barnsley with a cracking cod of 20lb 2oz. A PB for him. The heaviest cod caught from Whitby this year so far and possibly the heaviest cod caught so far this year in British waters. Well done to him.

    Cheers for now

Some steady fishing lately for the lads on the Shy-Torque III

Yesterday we had a mixed group of lads enjoying a beautiful flat calm day.

Top rod on the day was my old biker mate Mick Jones from Chesterfield who ended up with 15 fish for himself.

We sailed today on near perfect conditions. Breathless with a gentle swell from the East.

First stop was for mackerel of which the lads took around 30 to see them through the day for their bait. Next 2 stops were over wrecks. The first one only throwing 4 or 5 fish out. The second one however gave us some steady fishing up and over slack water for an hour or so. Some nice plump cod to just over 7lb and a sprinkling of small ling boated. A big tide today and when it got running on the ebb the fishing slowed up until the next slack water when we picked some more codling up on the ground for the last hour.

Baited rigs fished best with the fresh mackerel doing the best. Shads picked a few up too.

Ivan Davey is pictured with his best of the day, a lovely cod of 7lb 2 oz.

    Cheers

Some steady fishing over this last weekend aboard the Shy-Torque III. Sundays team enjoying the day working the ground and reefs on the 7 and 9 mile.

Peter Morley and his team joined us along with 3 other lads and enjoyed the day catching on the shads and baited rigs. Cod to just over 7 lb and ling to 6 lb.

A great days fishing for the lads on the Shy-Torque III today.

Some mackerelling at the bouy first followed by a couple of inshore wrecks. The lads taking 15 or so fish from them. Then a ride out to try some ground we haven't worked for some time.
The lads picked away nicely for 3 or 4 hours with ling boated to just over 10 lbs and cod to just over 7 lbs.

Young Jorge Blenkin had a slowish start but ended up showing the lads how to go on and boated the heaviest today at 10 lb 3 oz. Well done to the young guns!!
