    Hi all,

Since we got back to sea a couple of weeks ago after lockdown we have been flat out every day.

The fishing has been good too with catches on the day being anywhere between 40 and 100 fish with plenty of good size mackerel showing now too.

We have been restricted to taking 5 anglers for a while with the group gathering number being 6 but due to the social distance measure being reduced to 1m we are now taking a maximum of 8 anglers on the boat. This has been approved by our harbour master here in Whitby.

No monsters since our return but a nice steady picking of cod and ling both on the wrecks and on the grounds.

    Calendar fully up to date.

    Cheers for now Rich.

Hi everyone. Such a long time since we've been on here!!

The Whitby Charter Skippers had a meeting this morning and had a chat about our return to sea. Insurance companies have been contacted and we have been told that we are ok to go providing "ALL" government guidance is adhered to.

It was agreed that next Saturday was going to be the start day back to sea. This is also the first day of the Summer angling competition (which has been chopped and adjusted here and there).

The current government guidelines are such that we can only sail with a maximum of 6 people (this number includes the skipper). We will be taking bookings for groups of up to 5 anglers at the moment. Individuals are always very welcome too. If the guidelines on social distancing change and the group gathering numbers change too, we should be able to sail with more. Keep an eye on the sites for any updated news!

Our calendar is, as always, fully up to date so do take a look and if you fancy a trip with us please give us a ring, text or email for any information.

If you are already booked on or want to sail with us, we ask that (if possible) you can bring PPE with you. Hand sanitiser, masks (or Snoods like I wear on the motorbike will do!) We will be carrying some PPE as well, in case you don't have any. We will ask that regular hand washing takes place during the day. The boat will be well and truly cleaned at the end of each day with industrial bleach ready for the next sailing.

The boat will be clearly marked out for distancing and we will ask that you adhere to the rules asked by the government. Our safety as always is paramount!

The anglers cabin won't be available due to the current situation so please bring some good gear with you incase it gets a little splashy out there!

I know that this sounds like a massive change, but if we all stick to everything that we are told then hopefully in the not too distant future we will be able to return to some sort of normality and start operating like before.

Obviously, if you start suffering with any symptoms of Covid-19 we would appreciate your honesty and that you did not sail with us until you are safe to do so. We will happily transfer your booking to another date.

Take good care of yourselves and hope to speak soon.

    Cheers
    Rich

A nice day on the water yesterday for the lads. Nigh on perfect conditions so we steamed directly to a wreck 18 miles off and remained there for the best part of the day.

The lads picked steadily at the wreck until around 2pm when "Sammy" the seal decided to spoil things for us! Plenty of cod already for the lads though so we decided we'd let him get his dinner!

Forecasts are looking dodgy now until mid week next week so gonna self isolate for a few days with some beer and wine!

    Stay safe out there everyone.

A slow start to the fishing yesterday for the lads. However, after a move out to an offshore wreck, they started picking a few fish up. Nothing big landed but a nice picking at the end of the day. Squid and mackerel baits doing the business again.

"Possibility" of another window in the weather tomorrow so if you fancy a day out give me a ring on 07733 233 352.

Sunday just gone was a half decent day for the mixed group we had on board.

We focused on the ground/reef fishing as the tides had taken a jump overnight. The lads worked hard for their efforts and all managed a few cod/ling each. The water still being a bit cloudy after the recent Northerly , all the fish fell to the squid and mackerel baits.

We are lifting the boat from the water on December 2nd for some overdue work, a new deck and a few other small jobs. Hoping to have her sorted for the end of January. If you fancy a run with us befor then give me a call.

    Cheers for now.

After a fairly stiff Northerly for a day or two nothing too startling yesterday for the lads.

We fished around the 5, 7 and 9 mile areas. A sprinkling of codling between them with the best fish going just shy of 10lbs for Richard from Knaresborough. Enjoyable day never the less although a tad chilly!!

All the fish boated were to the baited rigs, mainly falling to the squid.

    Cheers

Last day of their 3 days today for Joe, Bernie, Chris, Paul and Gareth from the South East, London area.

We decided to stay and fish the inshore marks again, anchored and uptiding/ downtiding. A much slower day than yesterday with only around 20 keepers boated and a further 15 or so returned.

The lads were fishing peeler crab, squid and lug worm again. A few Bull seals were hampering our efforts for the best part of the day and probably hampered the catch rate. A bonus lobster today for Gareth which was returned as it was a female carrying eggs.

    Cheers for now.
