    07.10.15.

A bit of a strange one to weigh up weather wise for today's trip. Variable winds to start the day going NW later. A betwixed and between one. However, once put to the vote, the lads decided to come and have a go.

A bit of swell to welcome us first thing but with the wind at absolute zero there wasn't a problem at all, in fact, a "glass like" sea / swell !!

We had a run to the ground on the 5 mile which produced a few nice fish with Pollack to the 6lb mark and a good number of Codling and ling. The lads at the end of the day all pleased with the outcome of the days efforts.

Ex professional footballer and now playing for Whitby Town F.C Lee Bullock joined us for today's trip. This was his maiden sea trip in the U.K and he was delighted with his dozen fish. The rest of the group ending up with similar amounts plus oodles of Mackerel !!

    Lee is pictured.

I now have the 2016 Whitby tide tables with me so if you want to get your trips booked early you're more than welcome to.

    27.09.15.

Alan Yates from Driffield, East Yorkshire and his family and friends joined the boat today .

The fishing wasn't a patch on yesterdays efforts numbers wise but we certainly had some better quality fish.

One of the first fish on board was a Ling just shy of 19lbs which fell to Richard which was a personal best for him. Well done mate.

The next top quality fish was a cracking Pollock of 12lbs caught by Ken, but the finest fish on board was undoubtedly a Tub Gurnard whcih was caught by Alan's Niece, Ellie.

Her cracking specimen was 3lbs 8oz and is a personal best for her and also the boat. We just don't see Gurnard of that quality here at Whitby so a massive well done to her too!!

A very happy Ellie is pictured.

An astonishing amount of cod out on the 20 mile stream just recently.

Three of our favourite wrecks producing very well indeed. An abundance of sprats keeping the fishing going here for the lads.

Dave Coxhill and his mates from Manchester were among the mixed group today. Dave and his 3 pals landed 94 cod between them which was very impressive indeed. The rest of the crew averaging around 15 to 20 fish each. But the star of today's show was undoubtedly a regular to the boat, Steve Bulliment from Market Weighton, East Yorks.

Steve managed an amazing 50 cod himself for the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A personal record for him. Well done mate.

The September angling competition ended here last Sunday and was a success after a shaky start for bad weather.

I'll firstly congratulate my old mate of many decades, skipper Paul Eddon off the Trot-On on his second festival win here this year at Whitby. His cracking Ling of 21lb 11oz taking the top prize of £1000.00 in cash. Well done mate!!!

The lads who fished aboard the Shy-Torque enjoyed some terrific sport too. Our best fish in the competition fell to Phil Parkes, a regular on the boat, with a lovely cod of 17lb 6oz. His fish winning him a first daily prize. Many more fish in the teens too.

The Shy-Torque anglers yet again taking more daily prizes in total than any of the other entrants and boats over the two week event.
Well done to all our anglers and a massive "thanks again" for your ongoing loyalty to the boat. Much appreciated.

Phil Parkes is pictured with his cod of 17lb 6oz

After a week off work for strong Northerly's we sailed again today quite trepidant. We fully expected to find the water to be cloudy but were pleasantly surprised to find it was still clear enough to have a fantastic days shad fishing. 9 anglers boated over 150 cod to just under 9lb. All the fish taken off just 2 wrecks some 18 miles from shore.
Places left in this competition are (3 on 15th Sept and 1 on the 16th Sept.
    Great sport at present lads.
Get your places booked while it's committing suicide!!!

The fishing remains very steady here at Whitby. Over the last week or so we have certainly had more good days than bad. A steady picking of codling wherever we've worked to be honest. The "codling" seems to be the main stamp overall this year. Usual size being 2 -5lb. One or two more decent fish thrown in amongst them.

Last Monday saw the weather take yet another turn for the worse and is currently out of the North with some strength behind it at times. Just hoping it doesn't do any damage before the September comp gets under way this coming Saturday (5th Sept) We have just 1 day left in the comp now (Tuesday 15th) Individuals are very welcome to join us.

The competition offers anglers cash prizes up to £1000.00 !!

This last week has seen some very happy anglers aboard the boat. Best Cod fell to regular angler on the boat Simon England at a shade over 13lbs.

A very good Haddock of 4lb 4oz fell to a newcomer to the boat. Gedirius from Leeds.

    Simon is pictured.

    Tight lines

After a cracking break with my 2 boys and friends down near my mothers in Devon we're back at it again lads. The first crew on board after the break was Dean Parsons and his mates from Easingwold. A great days sport on the ground with over 70 fish caught between the 5 of them, plus a hugging of monster Mackerel !! The fishing continues to be at it's best here at Whitby. Room for a few spare anglers tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday.
    Cheers and tight lines,
    Rich.

    12.08.2015.

Some quite outstanding fishing for the boys today on the boat. A group of 6 lads taking the boat meant oodles of space for them and oodles of fish too!!

Regular angler Nigel Hall from East Cowton showed the rest of the team how to go on and ended up with nearly 8 stone of cod and ling himself ( 112lb )

A great days work by anyone's standards.

Doubles and trebles boated for a good hour or so at the start of the day ensured everyone went home with a cracking bag of fish.

    A beaming Nigel is pictured!!

A quick note lads................There are just 2 days left in this years September competition. Competition starts 5th Sept and ends 20th September.

They are :- Tuesday 15th Sept. Empty boat.
Wednesday 16th Sept. Room for 8 anglers.

    Tight lines as ever,
    Rich

    10.08.2015.
A mate of mine from Batley in Leeds had the boat booked on the 10th Aug. Sadly Ahmed couldn't make the trip due to international work commitments and had to fly to Bahrain the night before the trip.

The rest of the lads managed the trip and had a terrific day just 2.2 miles from the harbour with a cracking catch of over 100 fish!!

A load of Mackerel at the bouy at the end of the day rounded it off to perfection.

Ahmed has since called me to tell me how jealous he is and is in the process of booking several more trips before the end of the season.

Aka who stood in for Ahmed is pictured with a lovely plump codling.

    09.09.2015.

Regular angler from York Ian Hart and a mixed group had a cracking day with the boat on the 9th with codling to just over 8lb.

Long may this weather continue and long may the codling be plentiful too.

    Ian is pictured.
