    15.05.2015.

A fabulous change in fortunes from the day before for the lads on the boat. A perfect flat calm morning welcoming us.

Chris Parkin and his 7 mates from Leeds joined the boat for the usual 7.0am start.

7 out of the 8 were relatively new to the game so an exercise in ground fishing was definately in order to start the day. A 20 minute steam to the first mark arriving at 7.30am

We dropped back on the ground on the 5 mile where we've been seeing some exceptional fishing of late. The first drift was very encouraging indeed with every rod taking fish. Nothing big really with cod to around the 7lb mark.

The next time I looked at the clock it was turning 1.30pm. The cod had been coming on board steadily all morning and the boxes were starting to overflow!!!

At 2.0pm Chris the organiser decided that they had all caught enough and we decided on an early finish returning to port at 2.30pm to begin the filleting.

The lads did a fish count as I filleted and returned a figure of 143!!!! Not a bad mornings sport at all !!

    The boys are pictured.

After having a few of the best days we've had so far this year just recently, today showed us all exactly why we should never take angling for granted when the going is good!!!

The conditions to start the day were absolutely perfect with a flat calm sea. A few codlings were boated in the first hour but nothing like we've been seeing lately. The breeze then started picking up from the "dreaded" Easterly direction and we struggled to find the fish. A dozen or so moves were fairly unrewarded with just a few more codling boated. We finished off on a fairly unknown strip of ground at the end of the day and we managed to save it.

The lads ended up with around 50 codling between them which they were all very happy with.

At the end of the day all we can do is keep trying. There's never a guarantee in this game!!

The lads (Ronnie, Joel and James) are pictured with a few of their catch.

Some belting cod fishing to be had at the moment!
A mixed group of lads had a lovely show of cod today on the rough ground just 5 miles from shore. Best angler today was Simon England from Barnsley taking some 16 cod home with him.
Pictured is Steve Bulliment from Market Weighton with his best cod of the day.

Well lads ,another Spring Festival has come and gone here at Whitby.

The boys on the Shy-Torque enjoying some fantastic sport as ever.

The boys aboard the boat have been enjoying fantastic fishing so far as amounts of fish go and quality of fish too. Bags of up to 30 fish each have been seen regular just recently.

However, the winning fish, which is also a new PB for Marek Pracowity from Leicester and also "WINS" the Spring competition and is a cracker. Duly noted and recorded and just goes to show that whether you're a newcomer or a seasoned angler ,it really depends on who you sail with!
Marek is a complete newcomer to the game!! We give everyone a fair shot and advise one and all to the "top tips of the job" Marek listened and is now quids in!! Yeehaaaaaa!!

We will always try our hearts out to try and find you guys the big prizes on offer here at Whitby.

Over the last 30 plus years working as a charter skipper here at Whitby, we have won more competitions than any other boat here and to notch another win on the board is great!!

The Summer competition will here before we know it. We still have a few days left with room. Have a look at the availability calendar and get your places booked. £5000.00 in cash is on offer again this year and it could be yours!!

Give me a ring anytime between 7am and 8pm to secure you places on Whitby's top charter boat.

    Marek is pictured.

£1050.00 in cash goes to Marek for the win. (Presentation pics to follow)

This last weeks fishing aboard the Shy-Torque has been absolutely incredible to say the least.

The early part of the week on the neap tides fishing the best with a number of our lads leaving the boat with up to 30 cod each. Cod in to double figures making a very nice appearance too.

The heavier tides are with us at present and with a mix of Northerley winds, not a very good mixture, however, yesterdays lads did manage to scrape a few codling together for the table.

The competition still runs until next weekend and we a couple of spaces left for next Thursday if you're interested in having a crack at the £1000.00 1st prize.

Pictured is Johnny Hanson from Hornsea with a lovely double figure cod.

    Cheers

Some superb fishing aboard the boat this last few weeks with a good number of our anglers leaving for home with up to 30 cod each. A great days sport by anyone's standards!!!

The water is abundant with Spring feed at present and with the clarity being so good too we are really having some bumper days fishing on the shads.

The best bit is that we are only steaming for half an hour before we start giving one and all some terrific action all day long!!

The prospects for the forthcoming season really are looking handsome for the Shy-Torque anglers.
If you fancy a slice of this amazing early season action or fancy making any bookings for later on in the year, give me a ring any time during the day up till 8pm (any day)

This last weekend was a complete washout with strong winds and heavy showers here at Whitby.

We did however manage to sneak a day in last Friday between weather systems and the 5 lads chartering the boat had a very enjoyable days sport with Cod to just over 9lbs and pollack to just over 7lbs.

The ground and wrecks on the 9 mile providing the majority of the sport. The shads and the frozen squid doing the damage.

Pictured with a nice pollack is Jason from Market Raisen, Lincs.

With the Spring festival fast looming up ( starting this coming Saturday 4th ) we're all hoping that the weather will finally turn for the better for us all and we can take to sea a lot more than of late. We still have spaces in the comp so drop me a line, mail or text to arrange a day where you will be in with a chance of grabbing a very nice £1000.00 in cash!!

Last Sundays fishing was pretty good aboard the Shy-Torque.

A regular mixed group of lads from Richmond, Nottingham and South Yorkshire sailed with us.

We returned back to the 9 mile area where the fishing was good but not quite as good as the day before.

Best bag went to Nigel Hall from East Cowton nr Richmond with 13 codling to 5lb.

Best fish went to Polish Greg from Nottingham.

Everyone went home with a nice "fry" for the table!!

Most of the fish caught were taken on the shads. Clear water at last lads!!

Spring is just around the corner and with signs as good as this it's looking like we're going to get a good start to the season.
Give me a ring any time to book a trip.

A long time since our last report due the rubbish weather we've been getting recently.

This last weekend was a little better, however the wind was from an East North East direction but ok to work.

The lads on board were from the "Telstar" angling club in Barnsley.
Richard, Gary and John had the boat booked on Saturday and had a great days fishing on the 9 mile ground.
No cod above 5lb but plenty of them!
Gary had the best catch with 22 cod himself!

John had the heaviest fish with a 6lb Wolf fish. Quite a surprise for this time of year.

Great day lads and excellent company.

    Cheers
    Rich
