    17.07.2013.

Mick Long and his crew were aboard the boat on the 17th this month and enjoyed a lovely day at sea.

After struggling for the first hour or so we settled into some steady fishing on the 9 mile ground and ended up with a good show of both cod and ling ( with a couple of haddock thrown in ) at the end of the day.

The group managed around 60 to 70 fish all told and were well pleased with the results after the recent "slowish" fishing here at Whitby.

Things are certainly picking up now with the water clearing to an aqua blue colour at last.

    25.07.2013.

The Whitby 118 boys had a trip with us the other week and had a ball !!

Flat calm conditions allowed us to have a good run offshore to a couple of wrecks which hadn't been touched for some time.

The first wreck only produced around a dozen fish to 6lb but the second one we visited rewarded them with a great 2 hours of mad fishing. The lads ended up with around 80 fish in total for the day with a couple of them into double figures.

They asked that the group picture be displayed so they could show their mates!!

    Tight lines as ever

Still playing ctach up on the reports!!

Bill Barraclough from South Yorkshire experienced some cracking Ling bashing on his trip on the 16th July.

The tides on the day were perfect for wreck fishing and Bill with his " special " lures showed the rest of the lads the way home with his catch. Bagging over a dozen fish with his best going just short of 13lbs Bill also the won the sweep on the boat, a very tidy £60.00!

It's getting towards the time of year now where the big ling start showing themselves and we're looking forward some 20lb plus fish very soon.

Tight lines wherever you're fishing lads

Playing catch up on the reports at last!!

The weather has taken a slight turn for the worst this last 48 hours with some cracking storms in the Whitby area.

Here's hoping it gets back to the scorching 75+ of the last few weeks!!

The fishing at present isn't quite what it was a week or so ago but we're still clicking a good few fish.

Billy from Harrogate joined us on the boat with a very good friend of mine a couple of weeks back. He had never been out on an angling boat before let alone try and catch a fish!

Beginners luck may have played a part in his catch, which, at the end of the day was far better than anyone else's on board!!

A really enjoyable day with some good mates.

Since the Summer competition started the fishing aboard the Shy-Torque has been steady.

Cod are at last showing in slightly better numbers both inshore and on some of the offshore wrecks.

With the weather still being on our side we haven't had a day off in the last month or so and haven't really had much time to report on the site. Starting at silly o.clock and not getting home till turned 6 doesn't leave much time for anything else than bed!!!

Big Sam Anderson from Beverley fished with us on the 10th July and enjoyed a cracking days sport on one of the wrecks we visited. Sam landed a lovely 14 cod himself with his best going a shade under 11lbs.

Some improvements in the quantity of fish the last few weeks with the water on the 9 mile and beyond turning a lovely aqua colour ( at last!! )

A regular group on the boat from Barnsley ( Prince of Wales SAC ) dropped on some good cod fishing in the last couple of hours of their trip.

The majority of their fish was taken on the shad and sidewinder, a true sign the water clarity is a lot better than a month back.

The lads are back on the 28th September for a crack at the big one in this years Autumn angling comp.

Some lovely fishing today aboard the boat. With flat calm seas yet again and hot sun, what better way to spend a July day?

A run out to the wrecks on the 11 mile produced a few cod and ling to the 11 to 12lb mark.

The better fishing came when we arrived at one of my old favourite wrecks on the 17 mile where we grabbed a very nice 60 - 70 cod to 16lb. ( what a shame it wasn't competition week!! )

Tight lines to one and all and lets hope this weather remains until October !!

The weather continues to be extra kind to us here at Whitby ( a bit like the summer of 76!!! )

I can honestly say that I can't remember as many flat calm days here for a number of years. Bonus!!

The Summer competition has come and gone yet again with the Association boats only losing 1 day out of the 23 scheduled, so a massive success. A big thankyou to all who sailed with us on the Shy-Torque III again this year.

No festival winners this time but a good number of daily prize winners again and all anglers leaving with smiles on their faces and some good bags of fish over the 3 weeks.

The next competition here at Whitby is in September. The dates are 14th Sept - 29th inc.

We still have room on the following dates :
    Mon 16th Sept ( room for 5 )
    Thurs 19th Sept ( room for 7 )
    Fri 20th ( room for 3 )
    Mon 23rd ( Empty )

The September competition here at Whitby usually give us a big fish and over the years we have had a good number of winners aboard the boat so drop me a line, either phone or computer, and come aboard and try and win yourselves a very nice £1000.00 in cash!!

Pictured is Ken Buckingham with his festival winning cod, a shade over 45lbs!!

    Cheers

Today is the final day of the 2013 Summer angling competition here at Whitby.

All the boats will be searching for the elusive monster harder than ever today!!

Here's hoping we click the winner ourselves with todays crew.

Pictured is Terry Harrison with one of his festival winning fish of over 31lbs caught on the Shy Torque.

    Tight lines as ever lads!

The last 3 days of this years Summer angling festival start tomorrow. With good weather forecast for all 3 days we are hoping to have a crack at the leading fish. The lads on board tomorrow are all seasoned anglers and are well up for it.

Today was a no go for us as I had to attend my Aunts funeral but we will be back at it again tomorrow and will probably be heading out over the horizon again, back to where we've had a couple of monsters on in the last couple of trips.

Hopefully we will have more luck and actually manage to boat one of them this time!!
Good luck to one and all who are entering this years comp.

    Rich.
