Fishing Report by Rich Ward

Hi all,
Been a long time since my last report which I must sincerely apologise for but I've had some serious issues going on in my life just recently. I won't bore you!
To the fishing!
The last month or two have not been overly exceptional with the cod fishing but what we have been getting has been of a reasonable stamp with cod to just over the 15lb mark. Better things around the corner now (summer) is here????!!
The shark fishing here at Whitby has yet again been good with 5 fish boated so far out of 8 trips and several fish also being lost. The best fish to press this year being Richard Furness's at around 235lb (pictured)
The weather at the moment is not playing fair at all with the wind coming out of the North for the last week or so. None of the boats have moved anywhere due to this but we are hoping for some lighter winds over the next few days, fingers crossed!!
If you fancy a trip anytime, either a general days bottom/wreck fishing or a days sharking please don't hesitate to give me a call on 07733 233352
I'll try not to leave it so long till my next reports!!
Cheers

Some fantastic cod fishing to be had here at Whitby on the Shy-Torque at the moment.
Sadly the weather has let us down badly now with fresh NE winds.
The wrecks out on the 20 mile stream have produced not only good amounts of cod but also some real quality fish too. Our best fish over the last few trips falling to Gordon from Rill.
Gordon is pictured with his cracking cod which was a shade over 15lbs.
Happy angling!

Took a mixed group off yesterday. The weather was on our side with just a light Easterly blowing so we had a run out to the wrecks on the 20 mile and then onwards to the wall.
To be perfectly honest it wasn't the best of days fish wise. The lads probably had around 40 codling and ling mixed. I was wondering whether the swell the previous couple of days maybe had had some impact as the clarity was down on the previous week.
Anyway we had a great laugh as always and the lads were pleased with the day.
100% effort as ever. Some are winners and some are just ok!!

A big swell generated from the high winds to the North of us came through last night and has somewhat hindered the more inshore fishing marks here at Whitby.
However, Paul on Trot-On and ourselves with the faster boats had a run out to the wall today where our cruise was rewarded with some excellent cod fishing. Again, nothing big, but a couple of daily prize winners (1st and 3rd) on the Shy-Torque made it all worth while for the lads.
If we have to go distance to find you a good bag of fish then that's what we will do, as ever!!!
Cheers

The fishing remains very good here at Whitby lads. Plenty of codling showing on the ground and wrecks as close in as 4 mile.
Dave Wright and his mates from York joined us on the 7th of this month and enjoyed a really days fishing on the ground on the 9 mile.
No really big fish but enough codling to please everyone on board.
The lads are pictured.

I won't go in to the same old "hour by hour" throughout the day report all the time anymore lads.
Basically if it's fishing here at Whitby that's all you need to know, and basically at the moment it is!!
Clear water and plenty of cod. Come and grab some whilst it's there!!
Regards

A LONG time since we reported lads!!
The boat is now fully operational again after her longest ever spell out of the water.
The first trip away with lads was last Saturday which was also the first day of the Spring festival. Cracking weather and some excellent fishing too.
Artur Karbarz, one of many of our Polish recruits took the best fish of the day, a lovely cod of 14lb 15oz.
Arturs fish is currently leading this years Spring event so far. Fingers crossed for you mate!!
You're all welcome to give me a ring now we are up and running again. The water is crystal clear at present with some excellent cod fishing to be had.
Cheers

We managed a couple of days out on the Saxon Lady yesterday and the day before whilst we are still out of the water.
Lovely weather and some decent fishing too. The ground on the 9 mile and a couple of wrecks fishing pretty well. Most of the fish falling to the bait rigs.
Almost ready with ours now. Hoping to run the engines up tomorrow and maybe re-launch on Monday.
Regards
Rich
