26 Mar 2014 by Stephen Wake

26/3/14 We headed out to the wrecks today and found I did not need to go too far to find the pollack (half hour from the harbour). All good sized fish the biggest of 8lb caught by Barrie from Cheltenham. The small dark coloured plastic eels did the business. The reef fishing was poor producing a heap of dogs and the same for the plaice but that should change in the next few weeks. There is some good pollack fishing here now, the water temp is well up this year, compared with previous years and my gut feeling is we are in for a good season. If you want to get your self a pb pollack give me a call 07817141425

15/03/14 Today we had our first mackerel and what was encouraging they were under the 4 mile mark, I expect because the sea temp is up for this time of year ( about 9 degrees ). The morning session today was difficult (ebb) with cloudy, cold and choppy conditions. But the afternoon on the flood saw things turn round the chop flattened out, the sun came out and the big whiting turned up in steady numbers and all were fully roed-up. We also had our share of dogs along with a smattering of wrasse. Kept in-shore to day because of the fore cast, it was nothing like they were predicting and I could have gone off-shore.Our 8 hour trip as usual turned into a 9 1/4 hour, don't time fly when you are enjoying your self. Good fishing and tight lines to you all

First time out for more than 3 weeks. Straight out to the whiting ground, the big tides and murky water, they were few and far between with just about 6 keepers. Plan B anchored up as close to a wreck as I dared go, and the lads were straight into conger with Chris reeks landing the first and the biggest of the day a conger well over the 50lb mark the scales decided to die on me. Mike Gray from Wells had his PB a conger in the low 30s , Alan from Okehamton had a battle for half an hour and in the end losing his conger it must have been huge. 9 conger were brought to the boat by 7 anglers. All this rod bending sport and we were less than 5 mile from port. Its a pity we did"ent have a few more whiting for the pan but hey that's fishing. Tight lines and good fishing to you all.

  • 06/10/2013 Fishing Report by Stephen Wake

6 Oct 2013 by Stephen Wake

None stop fishing today for Andy and the postmen from Chard who managed to fill the cold box with bream Pollock and a bass, the bigger bream were kept, all smaller ones returned also 3 species of wrasse, dogs and some large pout. The biggest bream went to James Viney on a whole squid intended for a cod. Tried an inshore wreck the lads tried various artificials, although the wreck was showing bass on it they would not take the artificials, other boats that were lucky to find a few mackerel and fish them live did get some bass. At last the bass are turning up now. In the coming weeks now I will target them
Tight lines and good fishing to you all

4 hour trip with Richards crew from Burtle, we were joined by a pod of dolphins which are always a pleasure to see they were right beside the boat you could almost touch them but they did stop the fishing dead for an hour or so. We set off again to hunt out some bream and managed to find a dozen or more along with a couple of bull huss, cuckoo wrasse , scad and more than enough mackerel, all in all a very pleasurable 4 hours every one went home with a good bag of fish
