We fished our second Pure Fishing summer competition day today with the slight twist of a Facebook inter group challenge with the Hardcore Hounds up against the Jolly Boys. All anglers with their sights on the first place prize of a Penn Rampage uptider, combined with a Penn Fathom 15 multiplier courtesy of My Ways sponsors Pure Fishing UK Ltd.

Forecast was not the best, a stiff SW F5 blew most of the day restricting our movement. This never dampened the spirits aboard My Way, with plenty of fish being caught from around the bay during various drifts and anchor fishing.

With just short of 300 fish being caught for the 6hrs fishing, the lads worked hard given the conditions. On the drift wrasse and the odd pollack accounted for 80 fish, with ballans, cuckoos, corkwing and a good amount of goldsinneys.

At anchor dogs and whiting led the way with over 100 combined total. 17 huss and a solitary tope for Brooksy added to the mix along with a few other species.

It was a tight match at the top, with three anglers vying for first place, eventual winner was from the Hardcore Hounds, Jonathon Hudd amassing a very respectable 190points pushing Mark Dolben and Pete Minns into 02nd and 03rd places respectively.

A good hard fought day afloat, plenty of fish a few good laughs too!

Overall winners of the inter group challenge were the Jolly Boys, stealing a win from the Hardcore Hounds by 45points.

Great sport this weekend, blustery & drizzly rain on 15th with 16th a complete contrast with little wind, blue skies and gorgeous sunshine.

Good fishing all round with huss and tope the larger species at anchor and a plentiful amount of wrasse and small pollack on the light tackle drifting both days.

And I finally managed to photograph a puffin floating around South Stack from the boat, result albeit from a distance.

    Angler report 19th July 2017

Great day out on My Way Gethyn Owen a star again, little lesson for people booking charters trust the skipper not the forecast, weather forecast rain with increasing wind, call to Gethyn night before “yes where out boys but let’s see how it pans out but will put you on the fish”.

WHAT A DAY, yes a small shower wind didn’t materialize drifts brought Pollock, codling, poor cod, pouting, cuckoo wrasse ( thanks Gethyn for the rig) Ballan wrasse, long spined scorpion fish and mackerel (some Stonkers), with fresh mackerel onboard and no sign of the wind Gethyn decides to make a run for the deeps.

Inspired choice everybody caught tope and huss with a few spurdogs thrown in for good measure, a really top day with a skipper that knows his stuff. Halton SAC trip with special guest and a star to fish with Tom Murphy.

Icing on the cake Ronald won a Greys 20lb class rod and Abu 7000 reel, as it was one of Gethyns sponsored two day boat comps happy days, big thanks for a top day to Gethyn Owen

Gorgeous weather today, a great crew, plenty to eat … we just needed fish!
Drifting was slow, but anchor work was great fun with ray, huss, tope, spurdogs and then smoothies joining in our party.

We won’t mention Francis breaking a rod, Craig touching the skippers rod, Damien catching fish or very best forgotten, Johns quite magnificent trouser noise..

My Way always a great day ….

Fun day afloat today, don't think we stopped laughing at the Crads & Nai show!

Thankfully a good few fish too from a blustery Holyhead bay. Smoothhound yet again on the small side, and some light tackle fishing under the rocks for wrasse and pollack.

Another fun day today with a bunch of lads from the North East, who fancied a change of scenery and some new species.
The weather thwarted our plans for the Deeps, but we managed to bag up with a mixed bag inshore and some good Smoothhound fishing.
Everyone adding new species to their catch history, with Dean on fire and landing 10 himself including the heaviest which won a sweet pool of £80

Another good day afloat today. Weather was kind and fish obliging.

A good number of hounds caught around the boat, again a below par average of around 8lb with a few doubles.
Plenty of fish on the drift, ballans. cuckoos and pollack the mains. Tony came up trumps with a nice 3 pollack hook up, including the one pictured.
This was actually a 5lber, he must have the fingers of a flipping yeti!

Mid May to early June saw us sail for 22 days with evening trips, catching some great fish. This came to an abrupt halt a week ago as the winds swept in and forced to us cancel the 7 days in a row.

Fortunately the winds abated this week, and we've had a ball the last couple days with over 50 hounds to the boat and plenty of wrasse and pollack over slack water.

Great fun aboard My Way, tied up tomorrow again, then a nice spell of weather on the horizon ... hopefully
