lots of better hounds about now with a few bass to keep us fretting about the new law and letting them go !! Hermit crab is the killer bait , everything else pales in comparison ... frozen or fresh they will get you the hounds and bass.

Windy weather meant still close to home Monday
Skate numbers down on normal but still plenty about.
Hounds will now be the target species

Pretty windy weekend meant we had to stay fairly close to home,
Had nice lot of skate both days , plenty of doubles including this one for Nick the Greek -

Got out on Sunday and found loads of skate. Pretty much non stop fish all day.
Also dog fish and whiting and our first smoothound of the year -

Boat has been out of water for past month and will be ready to work again any time shortly.
From what I hear it is petty good skate fishing when the weather is kind. Looking forward to getting back out and catching plenty. :) -

The boat is having its annual service and tidy up at present.
Fishing has been pretty poor and weather dire but Spring is approaching fast and the summers species will soon be here. Last year we had loads of big big hounds and this year I am sure will be even better.
The boat is booking up fast so don't leave it too late . -

Still skate are the most likely larger fish to be caught, but the odd codling can be taken.
Boat is getting booked up already for better tides in the spring so get your bookings in early to avoid disappointment.:) -

Fishing remains much the same when the weather lets us get out.
Still plenty of skate around and a few codling - the whiting numbers have dropped so hopefully if the weather is kind should see a lot more cod
I have some weekends free in the new year - before the boat comes out for its annual service and repaint. -

The cod have started , not huge numbers but next set of big tides should push them up river.
Plenty of skate around and still the odd smoothound and bass.
The river is alive with small fish that frustrate as they strip baits meant for the larger ones...
