Yesterday saw a new event here at whitby. Rich Ward owner/skipper of Shy Torque, put together a few boats in organising a multiple county police uptide/downtide/side plopping competition.

It was meant to.be over 2 days, but sadly we lost the 1st day to weather, and quite a few anglers dropped out, the 4 boats, Alliance, ourselves, Sea urchin 3 and Shy Torque all sailed on the 2nd day with 4 or 5 anglers a piece in a growing sea.

We had to work hard as the fish werent biting as hard as we'd expect on such a good tide, we moved plenty as bites dried up. Luckily it paid of for us, we had winner Iain Robb aboard who managed to boat 10 nice Cod, and a couple of other bits to amass 1191 points.
Iain also got the biggest fish of the day at a shade under 7lb.
We had others in the 5lb and 6lb bracket too. There were plenty of just size fish that were returned.

All in all a very nice relaxed day at sea,

    Catch report 16th & 17th June

Hi guys we've had a couple of belting days at sea this rotation.
On Friday the tides were starting to lift from neaps and was showing a 5.1m on the tide tables. I was sure the inshore wrecks had already taken a battering from the whitby fleet already, so I decided to visit some ground marks I've not visited since I started back up again

To be fair everywhere we stopped we took fish, the rods were busy all day, baited hokkais and shads were taking the fish, with a good number of double shots through the day. I started edging towards some wreckage as the tide eased but the lads were still taking a good picking on the ground so we fished on through slack, and dodged the wrecks.
We never had any big fish but we took plenty of them, with the lads amassing 70-80 keeper Cod, Ling, Haddock and Mackerel with loads of throw backs.

On Saturday the tides built further but with having such a good day friday we went back to the same area. Despite several passes on the ground the fishing was slow! I started hunting around and covered a few miles before heading back into the 3 mile stream.
I marked a ledge that suprisingly I've never marked before in all my years at sea, with a few passes I had it marked up on my maxsea,
We started fishing it and with every pass over it we were getting 3-4 rods in to cod. We managed 30 odd codling off that ledge so I carried on working tight to features on the ground taking more fish.

The lads asked me to fillet up them so we got back in early, looking through the boxes the 5 lads had had a good day again, taking 50 keeper Cod & Haddock, plus a bonus gorilla tub Mackerel.

Obviously the lads were delighted both days and its been a pleasure being at sea with everyone, In such great weather!

Summer is finally on its way! We sailed into the expected shabby sea that was forecast this morning, it was forecast to ease by lunch and it did

As we left the pier ends I noticed a lot of birds wheeling and diving, also the water was looking a lot clearer than it has for weeks, so I got the lads to rig some feathers for a drop at the bouy.

We had 2 drifts and managed 4 codlings, a pollock a billet and a solitary mackerel! We have been seeing plenty of midwater marks the last few weeks so we've been expecting the mackerel any time.

The tides are starting to lift again but theyre still on the small side, along with the breeze I headed straight to piece of ground that fishes well on these tides, we picked away steady till the tide eased then visited a few of my favourite wrecks until the tide started pushing then returned to ground again.

The fishing was steady away all day taking fish on a mixture of shads, bait and baited muppet and hokkai rigs. The baited rigs taking the majority of the fish.we took a fair few species too, cod, ling, haddock, mackerel, coalie, pollock, ballan wrasse, and tub gurnard.

I was kept fairly busy with the net all day but was surprised at the end of the day to see most of the lads had around a dozen fish a piece, best lad kept about 15, plenty of throw backs too, we finished with a tally of 70-80 codlings to keep, so it turned out to be a pretty good day for the lads.

    Morning guys, weekends here again!

Had a great run to the offshore wrecks again yesterday with the favourable forecast., we'd had a huge northerly blow this week which has kept the water coloured inshore meaning we couldnt hit the marks we should be doing by now.

I gave Andy and the lads the options and they chose to have a run off. I explained id never hit these marks before and had a clear route planned, unfortunately I only got 3 marks into my 8 mark day

On our 3rd wreck of the day, we kept nailing fish after fish every drift, the shads were on fire, I fished my favorite 4" white koike awol and never missed a drift hitting fish as soon as I hit bottom
The rest of the lads used a mixture of squid and shads to nail the rest of the fish.

What I was amazed at, was the quality of the fish, every cod was between 3lb and 6lb, we had a good smattering of fish 6lb to 7lb and the best of the day went around 9lb

Another great day in great company, with us being so far off, it gave me chance to fillet everyones catch on the way in too.

If you fancy a day out with me, give me a call on 07977 436 903, if you cant get hold of me please give me a text or WhatsApp and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

    Good morning folks,
We had a very good couple of days at sea Friday and Saturday last week,

We're currently on the transition between the uptiding and summer wrecking, it can be a tricky time of year finding clear water. With fair forecasts we used the power of the new engine to run distance, working the 20 & 30 mile wrecks.

We had 2 great days at sea with plenty of Cod, Pollock and Ling for everyone, catching on both bait rigs and shads.

Paul Whiting from Milnrow also has the fortune of catching a lovely double figure Cod which has secured another WCSA spring festival win for us, netting him a whopping £1050!

If you fancy a trip with me please give me a call on 07977 436 903, if you cant get through, please drop me a text or WhatsApp and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

Yesterday was our 1st trip of the season, I had party made up from Mistress regulars that have fished with me on many occasions, so I knew the banter would be on top form.

I was eager to hit some spots that I know wont have been touched since I was last on them. The fishing wasnt as fast as I would of liked but we took fish on every spot we fished, and we had some absolute belters among them too.

The best was taken by Alan Keys, which took the boat scales to around 12lb, we also had a couple of others bouncing 6-7lb, the rest made up by 2-5lbers, everything under 40cm went back for another day, our last move of the day saw the rods bouncing away finishing on a high note, we stayed a bit longer as we were having a great time, we finished the day with around 50 codlings (including throwbacks)

If you fancy a trip with me, theres a list of dates and prices pinned to the top of my facbook page, Mistress Sea Angling Charters.

Its been a while since we popped a report up due to other commitments.
But we'll be resuming charters again from next month.

We've just fitted a new engine which is giving us a good bit more speed, yesterday we had the boat out for a run with a few friends, we fished inshore at anchor and fished into darkness.

We took a steady stream of fish for the few hours we were off, biggest went around 5lb and my pal got the best bag of fish with 11 to keep, we threw a good number back too. All fish were caught on squid, black lug and squid.

Signs are looking good moving forward.

If you fancy a trip with us give me a shout on 07977 436 903, if you cant get through, drop me a text or whatsapp, and I'll get back to you asap.

We managed a nice day at sea yesterday.

We knew the wind was forecast to get up by mid morning so, nipped offshore first thing to get the lads 1 or 2 mackerel

The wind was creeping all the time we we're there so we ran inshore for a very early crack at the uptiding. Conditions were near enough for it.

Well it wasnt winter uptiding fast but we got fish everywhere we went, most around 2-3lb but we had a few bigger 4lbers and the biggest topped just over 6lb.

We have the winter uptiding festval running again this year from the 6th - 21st November.

    We currently have remaining,
    7th November- 5 places
    8th November- 5 places

Drop me a message or WhatsApp if your interested in joining us for a day.

Our 1st day entering the WCSA Grand Summer Festival yesterday saw our anglers among the fish.

The mackerel played ball for us giving us plenty of fresh bait for the day.

We managed plenty of nice fish with some going into double figures, we also lost some better fish too! But that's fishing!

We finished the day on high taking a daily 1st place.
