    Monday 31st March

Back Uptiding again today, on board we had a couple from Birmingham and and a regular lad from Leeds.

We started off steady away, taking a dozen fish in the first couple of hours, We moved around looking for better things taking a steady few fish each spot we went to, but it was hard work, non the less we tried plenty of marks picking away.

The three anglers finished up with around 25 Codlings for the day, reports of boats travelling distance had similar catch results too,

The most consistent bait remains squid and black gulley worm, but crab cart took a few through the day too

Pictured is Bea from Birmingham, with her fish, well done Bea!

    Sunday 30th March
We finally got away on Sunday, the day forecast was for the sea to die away all day which it did, but it was still a rolly polly sort of day with a ground swell hitting us side on all day.

I had a bunch of regulars on from Leeds who were keen to get at the fish. We worked our socks off for the lads and it payed off for us, our first mark was chucking a few out, and I was sure another mark nearby would fish a bit better - and it did!

At some points we had two or three rods in at a time, we moved as the tide eased and the fishing went dead until the flood tide came through, we moved again for the final time taking another 6 or 8 fish before home time.
The final tally saw the lads with just under 40 Codlings for the day, which I thought was good given the conditions.
    All fish were between 2lb & 4lb

What a day we had yesterday on the Wrecks, its the first day we have had a crack at them this year as we have been waiting for the conditions to fall into place.

We steamed just over an hour to our first wreck, its a wreck ive been wanting to get on for a while, my choice payed off for us as we enjoyed some brilliant sport on shads and bait on the last of the ebb tide. with everybody taking plenty of fish

The tide eased as we approached slack water and the fishing slowed down, we picked away steady then and carried on into the flood tide which wasnt pushing very hard. as it approached 2pm we started making tracks towards home, stopping at a couple of wrecks on the way taking more fish for the lads.

we finished up with between 90 & 100 fish today for the lads, the best angler taking 23.

Ash from York who fishes whitby regularly took the heaviest ling and cod of the day both fish touching double figures, well done mate the rest of the catch was made of plenty of cod in the 3lb to 6lb range

we managed a day at sea again this week on a lull between weather systems!

Tony Elves fished with us the other week, enjoying his trip so much, he booked himself and his friend James on for another Trip Uptiding for the Cod.

we enjoyed steady sport most of the day, the water looked to be clearing a tad which seemed to result in the bites being a bit finicky, non the less, the lads managed about 20 codlings between them for the day all between 2lb and 4lb.

Pictured are Tony & James with a few of their fish for the day, well done men!

We have a few spaces this week, The weather forecast is looking settled and we're looking at having a crack at some early season wrecking, if youre interested drop me a line on 07977 436 903

    cheers Rich

On a slow day for all the Whitby boats Rich gave his all and after much hard work got everyone onto a few fish. The bites were finnicky and the fish were very localised in tight pockets. I had a flurry of activity and got some decent codlings in a frantic period on the flood tide. My wife bagged a couple too so smiles all round.

Cheers Rich...you know we'll be back.

Wednesday we went to sea with two lads as I was let down last minute again by an angler and didnt want to let the others down.
we fished a spot that I knew would be a bit slower than normal but the general stamp of fish is bigger than other areas.

we werent disappointed we took a steady picking all ebb tide moving twice, between the three of us we took 25 cod for the day but we saw many in the 4lb-6lb range, the best topping out at 7lb.

The best angler took a 40lb bag for himself for the day with a dozen fish, the good fishing is still out there for the competent anglers. and it shows there is still good fishing to be had.

Pictured is Tony Elves from Newmarket, with the best fish of the day - a nice plump 7lber! well done Tony!

Following a successful day charter on Tuesday 18th, and with the weather being settled, we took a night charter too for a five hour trip finishing at 10pm. After our 1st go a couple of weeks ago we were keen to get back out and try a few different marks.

We settled into anchor and again within minutes we were into fish, we picked away steady until we lost the tide, we then moved a couple of miles to our next spot where the tide was just beginning to move, and again we hit into fish pretty much straight away, they seemed a bit bigger in this spot though, with Local lad Faron Trueman taking an 8lber and 6lber in two casts,

The water was beginning to shallow so we moved to a bit deeper water taking a few more fish and losing a few to a seal before the evening was over.

Faron caught the best bag, with an impressive bag weight of 30lb for the 5hr trip. although everyone caught a good few with us finishing up with 25 cod for the evening.

We have had a cracking couple of days fishing here at Whitby, with the two day window that appeared we certainly made the best of it!

Phil from Stratford bought his family along, and we also had Mistress regular John Holder onboard for the day. And what a lovely day at sea it was, with sunshine and flat seas.

Everyone caught plenty of cod to take home with and finished up with between 35 and 40 cod between us, the best angler taking a dozen cod himself, the best fish was a double and caught by John and took the scales round to 10lb 3oz, well done mate.

The best bait was black lug and squid, which has been the most consistent bait so far this year.
Cart accounted for a few fish too.

Finally we got a break in the weather to get out and have a crack at the Uptiding at night.

The conditions werent the best with dropping tides and water clarity alot clearer than we thought it would be.
    and drizzle all night!

sailing at 5pm and returning at 10pm gave us most of the flood tide to work with.

We took fish at every place we stopped but not in the numbers expected.
All in all it was an enjoyable evening doing something a little different, everyone caught fish to take home, the more experienced lads taking more than others.

we finished up with 23 Codlings, a whiting and a strap ling (which was instructed to come back when in double figures!)
