Firstly I would like to congratulate Mick on Avante and Ken for getting the biggest fish of the Uptide competition, well done guys!

It fished well for us on Mistress too, we took 3rd and 4th heaviest fish overall, the biggest of any other species and junior section too. We only missed out on the heaviest bag by 1lb!

The fishing was slow on a couple of days but others the fishing was exceptional, our best day saw us boating over 90 cod! we had another day taking over 80 too.

The Inshore competition is over now for this year, but with the event being so successful, sponsorship has been pledged for next year and dates set! November 8th to 23rd

The inshore fishing is still producing good numbers of fish, even though we are tied up at the minute with the weather, the shore fishing is throwing out lots of codlings and few better fish reported.

Another cracking day here at Whitby,

We were greeted with a nice flat sea and sunshine today, hopes were running high due the northwesterly we have been experiencing here the last two days putting a bit more colour back in the water.

Everywhere we stopped today we took a good number of fish, we left plenty behind in the search of bigger ones, as the sea bed inshore seems to be paved with loads of fish in the 2lb to 4lb range.

The best cod caught was by Mistress regular Mark Wilky, weighing in at just under 6lb back at the Middle Earth Tavern for the weigh in.

Also Whitby and Mistress Regular John Vero caught a ling just under 11lb taking top spot in the Any Other Species Section in our uptiding festival.

The lads fished well, with the boat amassing around 80 cod for the day

    Another good day uptiding today.

The boat took between 40 & 50 Codlings to keep, with a few undersize throw backs. Local angler Damien Townsend fished today getting the biggest fish and bag weight on the boat, his fish was tad under 7lb and bag weight just under 22lb.
He took daily 2nd biggest fish, and daily biggest bag netting himself £50 in prize money from our Uptiding Festival.

We also took a very bright Ballan Wrasse today, it only weighed 2lb, but its nice to see different species showing up every now and then. It went back to fight another day!

The fishing will continue to be good as long as we can get to sea, and we will be fishing long after the Uptide competition comes to an end. I will only need a minimum of three anglers to sail, so if youre interested in a trip please drop me a line

The Uptiding has been nothing less than exceptional recently. We have been catching plenty as well as some bigger ones too. These last 4 days from the 6th to the 9th we have had a massive amount of fish.

Best day was Thursday with the lads amassing just over 90 fish for the day, yesterday (9th) the lads managed a very respectable 65 cod for the day.

We didnt see as many fish Friday, but the bigger ones were there, between the 3 of us fishing we managed just over 30 cod, the best one just under double figures, My uncle sailed with us and was ecstatic with HIS biggest cod and best bag of fish to date, taking a daily 2nd in the comp as well as the biggest bag!
Dave from Huddersfield taking the daily first spot with a cracker over 9lb.

We have another day or two off for bad weather again fingers crossed for the good sport to continue.

We went Uptiding today with the regular bunch of lads (and Jane!) from west yorkshire police.

It was the first day or our Uptiding Festival here at Whitby, the conditions were far from perfect making it tricky day getting on our marks.

Everyone had an enjoyable day with us taking in excess of 40 Cod. Nothing big to report though unfortunately, we had several upto 4lb in weight, the majority weighing between 2lb and 4lb

    Well done guys

    Friday 1st November - 4 hour trip

I had a group of mates visiting Whitby and they wanted a shorter trip for the afternoon sorting out.
We got a few more booked on too.

first couple of spots were a bit slow so we moved until we came across a few fish, we managed around 20 Cod for the trip, which I didnt think was too bad.

One of our regular lads Mick Thurlow bought his grandson Zak along, who caught his 1st Cod, Mick has since said he was over the moon with his first Cod. The first on many mate, well done

Even though we got some good fish yesterday, the fishing was a bit slow for my liking, with this in mind I fished a different area today. and it payed dividends for us!

The fishing was never hectic but we got fish everywhere we stopped, the best lad, Mistress regular Ceiren from Cumbria took 16 Cod himself upto 7lb, Next best bag went to Matt from York who also fishes Whitby very regularly taking 10 or 11 himself, Ceirens mate Liam, who took a daily prize in the main summer festival also took 8 Himself. I think the daily tally was easily between 50 and 60 Cod for the lads today

Everyone had fish to take home.

Best baits again was squid and worm, also tipped with a bit mussel.

Today we have bettered our best fish so far this uptiding season,

The lad called Big C ( by his pals ) from Birmingham, took the best fish today just a smidge under double figures, the fish was in fantastic condition, was taken on one of our Daiwa Kenzaki Hire rods, coupled up with a Slosh 30, braid main line, the bait was squid and worm presented on a pennel rig with 5/0 hooks.

So lads with only a couple of days left until the festival the big ones are starting to show!

We still have a few spaces left, so drop me a line if youre interested

With a break between the winds, we got to sea on Saturday with Colin and the lads from Gratham,

It didnt take long for us to start nailing a few fish. the lads fished steady all through the day, even with such a small tide the fish continued to feed all day even through slack water.

The best bait by far was squid and black lug worm.

Between them they amassed a good catch of between 40 and 50 codlings to keep, plus a good few chuck-back codlings under 40cm. there were a good few in the 3lb to 5lb range. biggest would have been around 6lb.

We still have a few places on the Uptiding Festival starting next month, if you're interested in getting among the Winter Cod give me a call on 07977 436 903

    Sunday 20th October.

Uptiding again today with a mixed party of anglers. The fishing was steady with it slowing agin int he afternoon before a final move closer to home, we fished an extra half hour taking a further 5 or 6 fish.

We managed between 30 and 40 codlings again, also taking the best fish of the Uptiding season so far at 7lb 8oz for Ian from the western Isles
