The water is still quite murky on the inside so most of the fish fell to squid and mackerel cocktail baits Martin Harrison had a coddling that was so Orange it was first mistaken for a Wrasse and after a quick photo call was safely returned to fight another day for your chance of getting in on the action give Whitby's Premier charter boat skipper Paul Eddon a call on 07766995847 and fill ypur freezers

Sunday saw Whitby's Premier charter boat Trot On visit a few offshore wrecks searching for clearer water due to the weeks winds which had clouded the water inshore a little. We were pestered by seals on several wrecks but still managed to bag a mixture of Cod, Pollack and Ling to around 6lb caught on a mixture of Shad, Bait and Hokki's
Regular Trot On angler Chris Mangan had quite a fight with one seal who decided he wanted Chris's Cod for his dinner. Unfortunately the seal won. Although the score for the day ended with Chris 0 - Sammy the Seal 1
All the anglers had plenty of other fish to take home.

Chris won the W.C.S.A Summer festival last year aboard Trot On with a MASSIVE Ling of 33lb 4oz which netted Chris £5000 for the 1st place prize. The 2018 Summer festival starts on June 23rd till July 15th. Paul still had some spaces and dates available so to be in with your chance of winning this years £5000 prize give him a call on 07766995847 and join him on Whitby's Premier Charter boat TROT ON

Today saw a varied group aboard Trot On. We tried the wrecks on the inside. From the 1st drift we had a steady flow of Coddling coming aboard with fish to around 6lb falling to a mixture of Bait, Hokki's and shads . We ended the day with around 90 Coddling and Ling to keep as well as numerous under size fish that were released to fight another day. Ryan from Bolton had a trip out with his dad and showed him how it was done. We also had the Wakefield boys who had a good box between the 3 of them. With the W.C.S.A Summer festival starting on the 23rd of this month till July 15th with a 1st place prize of £5000 things are looking up for yet another festival win for Whitby's premier charter boat Trot On.

Today saw us traveling out to the wrecks 18+ miles to see what the fishing was like after the recent BEAST FROM THE EAST storm. Once again Whitby's number 1 Skipper Paul Eddon did not disappoint on the cod hunt. We had around 40 keepers with the biggest around 9lb a few Ling were also boated but the best fish of the day a nice Pollock of around 11lb fell to TROT ON regular "Big Andy" Pendlebury caught on a pennel rig with a squid bait. For your chance of filling your freezer give Paul a call on 07766995947

As the W.C.S.A summer festival drew to a close on Sunday, Skipper Paul "Dolly" Eddon and his TROT ON charters did it again on the last day and put Whitby Local angler, 67 year old Chris Mangham on the winning fish, Smashing his previous P.B. Chris took a fantastic Ling of 33lb 4 oz on a single squid bait, Winning Chris the 1st place £5000 prize money

Another good day on the cod for Trot On anglers, First stop was for Mackerel which were not playing the game today and were very elusive so a move onto the first wreck found all the rods into coddling falling to squid baits as the water inside is still clearing out so shads were working very well. as the tide turned on the ebb the fishing died and Paul was off to the next wreck. This did produce a steady picking of Coddlings, Ling, Pouting and Whiting. We then started dropping lots of gear as the tide started racing so a move to the ground was Paul's choice which threw out some nice coddling for Trot On regular Imran. We also had Trot On regulars Riswan and the Manchester Posse aboard who had some cracking coddling and a couple of nice Ling around the 7-8lb mark As the tide started to ease Paul decided to move onto one of his favorite wrecks and what a move that was for Derby angler Yuris who landed a lovely cod of 10lb 4oz to take the days best fish honour's

Friday saw us out with a crew of 7 anglers, The first stop was on the ground at the 5 mile mark. This produced Coddling , Strap Ling and Whiting falling mainly to squid bait.
We then moved onto a wreck and started to pick up a better stamp of Coddlings as well as bigger Ling averaging around 5 -6 lb along with the pesky Pouting who as usual were pecking at the bait.
Baited Hookki's started to pick a few Mackeral up which were of a good pan size, Trot On regulars "Big Andy" Pendleberry and previous W.C.S.A festival winner Dave Makings were getting best results with bait and had approx 20 fish between them, However it was another angler who took the boat sweep with a nice plump Cod of around 8lb. caught on a shad. With the W.C.S.A. 2017 Summer festival starting July 1 -23 Trot On still has some places available so to in with your chance of winning the £5000 1st place prize give Paul Eddon a call on 07766995847 and book your place on Whitby's premier charter boat TROT ON

10 May 2017 by Carl Farrar

Sorry for the late report but here goes, Wednesday the 10th of May found us at sea on probably the best day of the year so far at Whitby. The North East's premier cod spot. With flat calm seas and the sun on our backs the fishing was not quite fast and furious but steady. With the water clearing day by day we are hopefull for another good year. We steamed off to the 18 mile mark to try some wrecks. With a great bunch of anglers aboard the steam out passed very quickly. Arriving at Paul " Dolly" Eddons first wreck we were into coddling to about 5lb they were being taken on Shads, Bait and Hookki's. Along with Pollack, Ling, Whiting, Pouting and Haddock. As I was retriving a small coddling of about 3lb we had a Porbeagle shark of approx 6 - 7 feet long follow the coddling from the depths. He actually breached on the stern but nobody had a camera available to catch the breach. with that he sank back down to the depths. This created quite a buzz aboard. Trot On regular and Ex - W.C.S.A Spring festival winner Dave Makings was bringing a Haddock to the surface and this was also followed by our " New Friend" who wanted to investigate the struggling fish. This time we were ALL better prepared for a photo call. The rods went down and the camera's were out to catch some fantastic pictures. (Unfortunately I can only upload 1 pic to the report but a full report with Pics and video can be found on our FB site) . We tried a few more wrecks with similar catch results before a turn of tide quietend the fishing off. Which came just about the time to wind in and call it a day. All in all a great day to be at sea with Good company, Great Skipper, A varied selection of fish, On Whitby's Premier charter boat "Trot On"
