Out on our monthly trip with Lester Friday 24th April, into Roker 5mins after anchoring on the mark, then steady all morning, Lester asked if we wanted to move to locate a few codling maybe, but we opted to stay put, and a blinding day was had by all, only five anglers on the boat which included our fast improving novice Chris, who is rapidly outfishing all of us, no stopping him now he has his own tackle box. In all we had approximately 45 Roker to 131/2 Lbs with about 20% just into double figures in the total, plus numerous dogfish, 50% of Roker returned to fight another day, thanks again Lester for another memorable trip and great company with yourself and the other lads, shame one of them had to pay for the priveledge of not turning out but thats the way it goes, your turn next trip Geoff, see you next month Lester, thanks again.

Hi guys,I'm sure that most of you reading this report already know that the Thames Estuary has been producing some fantastic spring fishing over the last few weeks.Large numbers of plump codling to five pounds are still close inshore in the area providing great sport, best bait still seems to be lug and squid cocktails.A few days of warmer weather will soon warm the water and these fish will be leaving the area,so if you want to catch a few more make your trip sooner rather than later.Thornbacks are moving on to the grounds in greater numbers now,one angler ignored the codling and targeted the rays with fish baits on one rod and caught nine rays to double figures. We had our first bass of the season on Seawatch two weeks ago and I have heard of a few just south of us,so they are coming, all in all a good time to be fishing the Thames Estuary.

The fishing in March has carried on much the same as February with some good catches of codling to four pounds in our area, the last set of spring tides saw them push back up the river Blackwater giving some sport on the windier days for some of the boats. With the weather turning a bit more like spring there have been a few more Thornback rays being caught, these will increase all the time now and with the codling should provide some excellent sport in the next few weeks before winter finally gives way to summer.

15 Feb 2015 by LESTER BAKER

It's a couple of months since my last report and after an excellent start to the new year with some good catches of codling we had a some large shoals of spats show up in the Thames estuary and the codling gorged themselves for a two weeks, consequently they ignored our baits and we had a few quiet trips. However the spats seem to have dispersed a bit now and with the weather being kind to us we have had a few good trips with up to ninety codling up to four pound being caught in a day and one or two Thornbacks to double figures.
All in all it looks like things are shaping up for some very good spring fishing,so if you want to fill the freezer and have some fun at the same time give me a call.
    All the best Lester

Just back from a fantastic carp fishing holiday in France so I thought I'd give you a quick update on the first couple of trips since getting back.Smooth hounds making up the bulk of our catches with fish to fourteen pounds hopefully the bigger females should be putting in an appearance in the near future ,still several rays and bass being caught on most trips. The Mackerel fishing has taken a turn for the worse since the water coloured up a bit after a few days of northerly winds but should improve as the water clears up again. Special summer deals to get you fishing with us on Seawatch at www.seawatchcharters.co.uk

Been a while since my last report and the transition from spring to summer fishing is well under way in our area, still plenty of rays which have been joined by bass in numbers to worm baits in the right places mainly schoolies with the odd better fish..Smoothounds beginning to show here and there with the signs looking good for the summer fishing even had one or two small tope showing inshore already so looking forward to finding a few bigger ones in the next few weeks.

With the codling thinning out a bit we decided to target the Rays over the weekend and found them in some serious numbers,Saturday the best day with fifty five Thornbacks up to eleven pounds, the guys keeping a few for the table but the majority returned to spawn and fight another day.We also had a few codling to four pounds and the first Bass of the season on Seawatch at three pounds ( also returned alive). The Ray and Bass fishing should keep improving over the next few weeks,so if you fancy it give me a ring.
