Fishing is on fire at the moment, with many triple and quadruple hookup's so if you want to get in on the action
we do have some spaces available this coming Sunday April 17th so if you would like to join us then call 07768306646

The Clay shooting has become so popular that we have yesterday picked up the advanced Mk-2 clay trap...!!
this one has a longer arm to throw the clays further, and it is mounted on a sub-plate which oscillates left to right, and also up and down movement, so this will be more challenging for the more accomplished shooters..!! but for the beginner, we can just operate the trap as before, and flick the clays off the corner of the boat... should be even more awesome......

Well I agree with everyone, that this weekend you could not go wrong on the Thornback rays...!! there seems to be biblical amounts just about everywhere..
As with all things it wont last too long so make the best of it while you can, undoubtedly fresh Herring is by far the best bait to use, and it is relatively cheap... so it's a win win situation at the moment..
I don't know how many we had over the weekend, all I know is me and Nicola didn't stop running from the bow to the stern with the net, we didn't even get to do the clay shooting yesterday even thought the guys wanted to have ago....!! we just ran out of time....lol
I have an idea how many we caught but I would not publish the amounts but it was good fishing too say the least.... and only 17 minutes from our port of Bradwell...... mind you we were steaming at 27 knots so not as close as you might think..... Oww I can hear the cogs turning...lol
Here are a few photos of Sat/Sun.........Tight lines
Oh bye the way Brad... if you want to go on Thursday can you let me know please as I have not heard back from you ... cheers bud.

Well with the Thornback Rays that were boated yesterday many triple hook up's it is ...fun fun fun all the way.
It is most important when there are this many fish being boated, that you keep a level head on how many fish are taken for the pot..!!

I say this because it's so easy to bash these lovely fish over the head, then after a couple of hour you realise there may be 20 fish in the box..!! but then the realisation that these fish have to be gutted, and skinned and most anglers, either cant do the preparation, or are unwilling to do the preparation, then you end up with the situation with a boat load of dead fish that gave a great days sport laying dead and I have seen from my seat in the past from my CCTV stern cameras anglers throwing dead fish over the back of the boat thinking no one saw what just happened..!!

I think a lot of angler's should be very grateful on our boat (Vanishing Point-2) Nicola is always on hand to help with processing the fish, but I do think guys take advantage of her..!!! trip after trip they play the old card.
.WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO GUT AND SKIN THESE NIC, CAN YOU DO THEM..!! well this is going to stop now, she will be on hand to advise you , but you will have to get stuck in and do the gutting and skinning yourself, unless like one or two of our anglers are elderly and unsteady on their feet, or disabled then of course Nicola will always continue to prepare your fish for you but if you just cant be asked to gut and skin them..... then throw them back to fight again...!!

Sorry if I sound a bit off, I don't meant to sound grumpy I just want anglers to take responsibility for their catches
and there is a sense off I think achievement, ... baiting, casting, catching and finally dealing with the catch to take home...!!! and once you have done a few Skate you will find it is not so easy, thats when you will start thinking of returning some of you fish.... as seen in the photo..

    Rant over.......lol......... Tight lines everyone

What a lovely day yesterday (Sunday 3rd April) didn't sadly get the last 2 spaces filled but we sailed into the sunshine with expectations high.
I must admit, we got to the mark with about an hour of flood tide left, but we only saw one roker...! and from the sound of it quite a few boats were struggling..??? which was very different to the last few days, as all boats big and small couldn't go wrong, not sure what happened???.
But once the ebb tide got away things were still a bit slow the odd one here and there, so we moved a mile or so East but was no better??? so up anchor yet again and moved to a new patch of soft ground not too far from where we were on Friday and bingo that's where the little devils were hiding, then we got into a steady stream of good fish coming over the side, and still wondered why it was so different to the last few days?? we were not out on Saturday as me and Nic were at a wedding, but from what the other boys said it had been every bit as good as the last few days..!! so it was a bit of a shock not to fall straight on them again... but that's Roker fishing for you.....lol
Congrats to Gareth for catching the first Smoothound, jammy git...lol good job he had a good skipper to put him right over the mark....lol nice one Ray Martin

Photo inset is of my good friend Andy easy, and his dad Allen...... well done lads
well we are still looking for a few anglers for this coming Wednesday 6th April, so if anyone wants to come on the trip just call me on....... 07768306646

A fantastic day out on Vanishing Point-2....!!
the boys started catching Skate from the first 30 minutes of there day and didn't stop catching until 1 minute before the anchor was lifted.. and finished with a lovely 15 pounder..!!

So many fish landed in brilliant sunshine, calm seas, and great company... charter fishing does not get better than this....!! thank you to all the boys from the Rowell Charter pub in Kettering.

6 off the boys were locked in fierce competition over the long slack water in Clay Pigeon shooting..!!! but young Harry (16yrs) won the vanishing Point-2 TOP GUN trophy, with a good score of 15 out of 25 clays smashed,,,,, well done mate good shooting, but a close finish for second place to land-lord Phil, winning Silver, and Rob a well placed Bronze...! by just one Clay.... so close mate.. may be next time..

We still have places for Sunday if anyone is interested, just call .... 07768306646.

Well done everyone for today.... tight lines see you on the next trip.....!!!

I think fishing means different things to everyone, it's not for me to judge who is right and who is wrong?? fishing is a personal sport and we all make personal choices, which I firmly believe that no one should try to push their believes on anyone else.
I remember many years ago, 60 years to be honest... ( I can't believe I am 64) it's like I am writing this through my granddads eyes...! but I was just 4 years old when my dad and granddad took me sea fishing, I can still remember the excitement I felt, with my rod in hand, my heart beating that little bit faster and couldn't wait to get my bait on the hook and my line wet.
Then there was the waiting... and the waiting,,,, and so on, but eventually, the rod tip moved..!! and it started bending rapidly and yes.!! there it was my first sea fish, a little Flounder, and from that day to this I have been hooked.
Now again, this is just my personal opinion, we have good years and not such good years with the fish stocks, and the weather all playing a part, but for me, all fish are special they all need catching, weather you fish for the pot, or purely for the sport of it as I do, (mainly due to the fact I don't like fish to eat) so for me it's the hunt, weather it is, a Cod, Smoothound , Tope, Mackerel, right down to the smaller species, whiting, dabs, Flounders, on very light tackle they are all good sport and good fun, and that's what I think is sometimes missing.... Fun.. sometimes it all gets a bit to serious.
You know, I still get that feeling inside at my age, as I did all those years ago when I first started fishing, the felling of excitement, and the anticipation of what I might catch, and that first cast of the day, which I know will be a great day...!!! and you know why?? coz I'm fishing.
Me and Nicola are blessed with the job we do, being paid to do the sport we love, it don't get better than that, weather the fish are big, or small. it's all just fishing, love it for what it is......I know sentimental old fool... well if that's what people think of me, then guilty as charged, but as soon as this dreadful Easter weather subsides, I will be out there..... baiting casting, and waiting, and hoping that rod tip, nods once again... what ever it may be.....
Thanks for reading ...... Tight lines, boys & girls..
