    Report on-board Lead Us

out of Lowestoft on Lead Us 27th May

steamed up to a mark on a lovely sunny morning hardly a breath of wind but a very strong tide making the going slow within 5 mins of dropping the anchor jamie was into a nice thornback of 5lb 12oz with others catching the inevitable spotties then a nice bass a tadd under 4lb fell to jamies rod again, with 2 more thornbacks coming in shortly after as the tide slackened the wind picked up making things very uncomfortable and we had to run inshore to find some shelter with a few more spotties/ smoothies and a small codling rounding off the day with 4 thornbacks to 5lb 12oz , 3lb 14oz bass and numerous spoties & smoothies a small codling and 1 dab a good day had by all

WEST COUNTRY TRIP 20-24 MAY.Trevor Pegg wrote - This was my first experience of Colin,s West Country trip which started with us sailing from Weymouth to our base in Dartmouth picking up some wrecking along the way. With good weather, the following day was ideal for drifting for plaice which saw over 40 fish to the boat. A great bonus is not having to drive long distances after a day,s fishing and the social side with good company is excellent. A good variety of fish were caught with ling to 20lbs and a couple of "firsts" for me. As ever you need to be lucky with the weather but this really is a trip with a difference and to be recommended. Thanks Colin for all your efforts to keep us on fish.

Skippers Reponse: Thanks Trevor, I am glad you enjoyed the West Country Trip and hope you book on again next year.

  • 27/05/2013 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

27 May 2013 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

    26.05.13.

Another mixed party today with our regular Polish group from Nottingham amongst the group.

After one of the biggest seas I can remember seeing on Thursday/Friday this week there was only one place to go to get a result yesterday. Yes it was another run out to the "Wall"

Fortunately with the water being so much deeper out there and the ground so much harder the storms seldom affect the clarity there.

We were listening to the lads working inside again with reports of how quite the fishing was due to mucky water. It was like Gin on the Wall luckily!!

Still nothing big showing yet with our best fish being a ling of 7lb. Plenty of codling though with our final count up at the end of the day being around 45.

In reality a good day really after the storm.

Pictured is one of our Polish chaps, Chris from Nottingham.

  • 25/05/2013 Fishing Report by Malcolm Collins on Just Mary (Christchurch, Dorset)

25 May 2013 by Malcolm Collins

    Report on-board Just Mary

'Oceans Eleven' - 'Onamission' Reunion - Saturday 25th May 2013. One of Eleven Anglers onboard our spacious 35 foot Angling Charter Boat 'Just Mary' from Poole today was my old friend Kevin Gardner. Fishing with me for over ten years, since the early 'Mary Anne' days, Kev's loyalty and our perseverance was rewarded with this prime condition male Black Bream of 3lb 2oz. Also landed from the Same Reef Mark that we fished All Day were further Black Bream, Mackerel in good numbers, Garfish, Pout, Wrasse, Plaice and Dogfish. Bait for this Quality Fish was a single calamari squid presented on a flowing trace with Shimano rod and reel and braid mainline. 'No Fish - No Fee' not needed ! All eleven onboard left for home after their trip with fish fit for the table. After a slow start to the season quality Specimen fish like this one are a welcome sight so was that big yellow thing in the sky (!)..... See you soon !
Many thanks to my old friend Chris Clark for sending this report and photo to the Southampton Evening Echo who published this on Thursday 30th May prompting several phone calls from some of my old Southampton customers.....thanks Chris.....all the best ! Malc.....

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Today was spent with the special forces pictured here see if you can recognize any of them. All fish were returned today, well done men ,nice to have a bit of conservation now and then. We ended up with having a half day down to the weather not playing ball, bit on the windy side but managed to catch about 25 spotty dogs of all sizes and one skate. Big thanks to the lads, thank you for teaching me unarmed combat skills and how to strip a SA80 in ten seconds might come in handy one day if i get attacked by Somali Pirates off Gt Yarmouth!
Pleasure to have you aboard was a enjoyable day and good luck for the future for one particular man. Mums the word! All the best. Jon. ( High Flyer)
