Following yesterdays relatively good day, spirits were high as were expectations of the crew!!!

We headed out to the first mark to pick up the last of the flood and despite having a small Thornback first cast, did not produce much else other than Dogs so we moved to yesterdays spot for the ebb, in hope of similar fish to yesterday............and we weren't disappointed.

As per yesterday the first of the ebb produced a couple of Thornback, nice fish again of 9lb and 11lb. Mid tide we picked up one or two Cod of around the 5lb mark (as per yesterday) and another couple of Thornbacks and as the tide started to ease we were tempted to have a move but then Cliff landed a Thornback of 12lb+, we had another of 11lb to the rod of Simon Ward and another couple of Cod, one to Derk and one to Cliff, and the biggest of the day at a shade over 11lb (pictured).

Ended up with a total of 11 Thornback, 6 Cod, loadsa dogs....however, Cliff did lose ANOTHER Bass!!! sorry Cliff!lol

    Cracking day, cheers chaps.

Artur and his group not only had a cracking day of weather, but also had some nice fish on their trip today.

Although the Dogfish are back in numbers (we must have had at least 50 today) we did manage to get through to some better fish, ending the day with 9 skate, two over 11lb and personal best fish for both Artur (pictured) and Thomas.

We also had some Cod landing 3 up to 7lb 12 oz, the biggest falling to Thomas and lost a couple of other fish, so hopefully we will find some more tomorrow ;-)

    Report on-board Spot On!

4th and 5th of May saw the return of Milnrow sea anglers for there second trip of 2013.
It was Brixhams Pirate Festival over this weekend so we got in the mood by flying the 'Jolly Roger' flag for the festivities.
8 anglers made the long journey down to fish on Spot On.

Saturday saw a windy day on the skerries but still Spot On managed 75 plaice along with Dabs, Bull huss, grey gurnard, whiting, dogfish and herring.
Best Plaice fell to Paul Whiting topping out at 3lb.

Sunday was a day we would like many more of with flat calm seas and we did not waste it, travelling out to the wrecks and the first cod's of 2013 for Spot On and I am sure not the last, smaller Pollock up to the 7/8lb mark and ling up to 15lb made up the day with more whiting and pouting, over the weekend the lads managed 12 different species between them.

I would like to thank the Milnrow lads for some great fun and bringing the sunshine instead of the snow with them this time.

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

A few photos from the this last week, as you can see some stunning weather to go with some good fishing. The first big hit of bream came on friday with a good selection of males and females of all sizes up to about 2lb 8oz. A couple of late spur dogs from slack water on thursday was a bit of a surprise to round off some good sized pollock and a few cod off the wrecks. Another first for this summer was Dave Faulkners bass weighing a respectable 5lb.

    Report on-board T.J.Gannet

    Hi all
Just a quick report for the bank holiday. Sunday 5th went from mark to mark and wreck to wreck for next to nothing all day until we dropped on to a mark for the last hour. We then got half a dozen cod all around the 3lb mark. Monday 6th
Went straight back to the last mark from yesterday and started catching cod straight away. All still around 3lb then we had a couple around 4lb. After a couple of hours we decided to have a move, looking for something a little bigger but to no avail. We ended moving back to original mark and started catching cod around the same size plus a small pollock and an octopus! Ended up with 14 cod (+ 4 put back in) 1 pollock, 1 octopus, 5 pouting and the obligatory half doz whiting.
Hope to see you all soon
    Berney

  • 06/05/2013 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

    Report on-board Mistress

We have had a fantastic day today at sea,
The weather has been as close to summer as it gets!

The fishing was a bit slow through the day while we searched for a few fish, we worked our way offshore stopping on a few wrecks on the way taking the odd fish from them as we went.

Luckily the last wreck we stopped on threw up a good few fish for the lads, giving us a mad hour and Deano (my crewman) a bit of a workout with the net! we had fish up to 10lb in weight,
The lads left with a good bag of fish each with some nice conditioned early season fish amoung them.

The water is definately clearing, with us nailing some good fish this week each day we have been.

Pictured are todays lads with some of their fish, they couldnt pose with them all!

Fishing has been good recently with catches of Plaice on the Banks and Pollack and Pout on the Wrecks, up until now it has been mainly Herring and Whiting inshore but Hurrah the Mackerel have arrived although small in quantity they are big on quality lets hope these are followed by larger predators. Still targeting what the customer wants and can arrange specific charters, call to enquire what's available, Nigel
