    Report on-board Kellys Hero Charters

Good numbers of Plaice still being caught off the Skerries Banks, wreck fishing is still proving to be lean due to the water teperature, May bloom and lack of bait fish this should soon change with the warmer weather.

Nice lot of skate over the weekend, sadly weather on Saturday was not what we were expecting. Had a few live hermits and they got hit , possibly by hounds but did not connect with the fish so not sure.. I expect the first hounds to show any day now..

  • 04/05/2013 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

4 May 2013 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

We managed a day at sea today, and finally something worth reporting! the fishing here at Whitby has been a bit patchy of late, there appears to be signs of the water clearing at last.

Although we never caught masses of fish today we manged to locate a few on one of the reefs here at Whitby on blue and white shads.

The signs are there for the water beginning to clear out for the summer shadding.

We still have some dates available in June and July - considered the best months for cod fishing here at Whitby - If you fancy a trip drop me an Email at seafishingwhitby@hotmail.co.uk or call me on 07977 436903

    Cheers

    Rich

  • 30/04/2013 Fishing Report by Colin Penny on Flamer IV (Weymouth, Dorset)

30 Apr 2013 by Colin Penny

    Report on-board Flamer IV

FLAMER IV NEWS - During April the Plaice catches gradualy improved as the weather got better and the water clarity also got better. The biggest Plaice caught on Flamer IV was a six pounder landed by Mark Towner(pictured) which also won him Flamer IV Fish of the Month for April. The Turbot fishing was patchy which I put down to the well below water temperature for the time of year. The best Turbot of thge month was a 13Ib fish caught by Richard Christian. Two Flatty Competitions were done againsat other boats with the Flamewr IV Teams losing one and winning one.The inshore Reef/Bank fishing produced some excellent Spurdogs up to 18Ib and Blonde Rays up to 25Ib . Other species caught were Thornback,Undulate and Spoitted Rays.Smooth Hounds,Conger,Bull Huss etc.The wrecking produced Pollack and Ling.
During May we can expect the Cod to arrive on the wrecks and Summer species like Black Bream,Tope,Mackerel etc to show up.I am sure the flatty fishing will continue to be good.
On May 20th I am doing a 5 day West Country Trip and there is one place available for anyone that would like to join a group of individuals for this fishing/social trip.INTERESTED ? then contact me for details.

THANKS for all your support and I hope to see you on Flamer IV soon.

  • 01/05/2013 Fishing Report by LESTER BAKER on Seawatch1 (Brightlingsea, Essex)

1 May 2013 by LESTER BAKER

    Report on-board Seawatch1

Hi there, my first report - a little bit later getting started with the new venture than I expected ( the boat was damaged by a coaster which ran amok in Brightlingsea then due to the bad weather repairs were delayed )
Never mind we are now up and running and catching fish.
Seawatch had her first party out on Sunday and Tony's party managed 19 cracking Thornbacks with the best at 17 lbs 6 ozs , pretty good going as only one of them had been sea fishing before!
Fishing can only get better now with the Bass and Smoothounds joining the increasing numbers of Thornbacks on the grounds - So for some arm aching fun give us a ring and join us on Seawatch 1.
New venture discounts apply for next 2 months so grab a bargain!

Spanish comes up with the goods again. Great day out Dave lots of pollack , whiting and a few haddock. Bit of a swell picked up in the afternoon all adds to the fun, didn't effect the fishing. Hope the rest of this years trips are as good as this one.

  • 29/04/2013 Fishing Report by Gareth John on Hurricane (Isle of Sheppey, Kent)

29 Apr 2013 by Gareth John

    Report on-board Hurricane

Well the terrible winter seems to be gone now and at long last the fishing is improving.
My first real trip yesterday proved to be very good with no less than 12 nice thornies up to 10lb and 2 nice cod both 8lb each with a surprise early bass of 4lb.
So with reports of smoothies also starting to show along with hoards of LSDs there at last seems to be good news.
The word is getting out so book early to avoid disappointment

  • 27/04/2013 Fishing Report by Scott Belbin on Lady Grace (West Mersea, Essex)

27 Apr 2013 by Scott Belbin

    Report on-board Lady Grace

Today I had 7 onboard, 3 adults and 4 children and we had 6 rods. We headed out and fished up to high water. It started off slow with a few bites and Tom was the first to catch, he had the Lady Graces' first ever Dogfish! One of the other men then had a whiting and then Matt decided to show them how to do it by catching the first skate. We quickly got his bait back in the water and weighed the skate, it was 5.2lb male and Matt decided he wanted to take that one home for his mum and dad. Almost straight away Matt was into his second skate weighing 5.11lb which was another male so he kept this one for his uncle Dean who had brought him to Mersea. Uncle Dean then caught a whiting and the gentleman opposite caught a dogfish then Matt eas into his third skate, this one weighed 5.4lb but was a female just giving birth so she went back to live another day. Shortly after Tom caught his first skate and had a helping hand by his dad Stewart , it was another female weighing 8.12lband soon after Dean had his first female skate too at 7.4lb. Then Matt was onto another fish, by now thry were all thinking of throwing him overboard, this time he had a 2.13lb cod. It then quietened down towards high water and we headed home just before the rain threw it down. We finished with 5 skate, 1 cod, 2 dogfish and 2 whiting. A nice mixture of fish for beginners to see and I am glad we didn't catch anymore as I was certainly kept busy enough with this group of children reeling in needing baiting up and casting out very frequently. All the female skate went back to live another day.

  • 28/04/2013 Fishing Report by Geoff Weedon on Emma Louise (Eastbourne, East Sussex)

28 Apr 2013 by Geoff Weedon

    Report on-board Emma Louise

Thanks to Mick and son (Aaron) for an exceptional days fishing. Both worked hard to ensure we caught over 35 cod/pollock over many wrecks and Mick's skill in drifting is second to none and always found the mark. Numerous drifts, cups of tea/coffee, pies, hints, tips and patience should put the Emma Louise at the top of your list for the South Coast. Aaron gutting the fish for us all (there was a lot of fish.......) on the way back just rounded the day off perfectly. Thanks again, Geoff.
