I have fished since I could hold a rod and grew up aboard my dads charter boats in the 90's. as I got older I took my Orkney longliner out and my dads boats when I got the chance. I am obsessed with fishing I have no other real hobbies and just about any free time I have is devoted to fishing related activities. This may sound a bit sad but as I enjoy all kinds of fishing I have little time for anything else. My real passion is for sea angling but if I had more time I would like to spend a little more time fresh water fishing aswell. the first 'Galloper' was bought by myself and my dad back in 2007.she was a brinkliner 28 and kept me busy for a couple of years. My wife stacey and i bought the second 'Galloper' back in march 2009 she was an aquastar 33 and we ran her untill 2013 when we bought our evolution 33 also named 'galloper' and the evolution did very well over the next six and a half years.
early in 2019 we bought a blyth 33 and spent 10 months completely overhauling her to bring her up to the standard we like to give our customers. the bltyh catamaran is a vary stable and spacious platform which is very popular with the anglers for her speed, room and stability.
i look forward to many good trips aboard her over the coming years. Although I'm only in my 30'sI have plenty of experience as a skipper as before all of this i was running my dads boats since I got my Yachtmasters Offshore licence when I was 17 so I HAVE NOW BEEN A QUALIFIED CHARTER SKIPPER FOR OVER 20 YEARS before that I was taking his boat out with my grandad or brothers or friends whenever I could. I like to think that all of this along with many holidays spent fishing other venues has helped make me one of the most experienced skippers around.

Excellent Skipper went with two non fisherman friends and he could not do enough to help them, which let me get on with my fishing. Mind you think I should have got some help as they caught more than me.

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
7 May 2025 by Scott Belbin
The bass are clearly coming on the feed now as they stop spawning and they are HUNGRY! Young Sam showed the lads how it's done yet again catching 3 sizable bass amongst the schoolies. There were some other decent bass caught too as well as some not so decent as you can see by Sam's dad Steve's basslett! Steve did redeem himself though with a beautifully marked female thornback. Unfortunately we didn't get as long as I wanted on the hounds but we did get a few small ones before the weather pushed us off.
Weather and tides look great for this weekend and I have spaces for individuals and groups over the coming weeks.

It's always great to see a family out catching fish and making memories together. Even though the weather had turned a bit we were still able to find loads of fish for everyone and some nice hounds. We couldn't fish where we wanted to but managed 20 hounds, some small bass, loads of whiting and dogfish and a dab. The weather and tides are improving later in the week and I have spaces on Sunday and into next week.

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin

It was lovely to see Jon and the lads out for their first time this year. The lads opted to target hounds with a chance of other stuff in some of the glorious weather we have experienced lately. Although we had hounds all day long it took me a while to find the better numbers as they weren't where I'd left them last time! The lads are kind enough to encourage me to fish with them. I don't often have time or room nowadays with a busy boat. I managed to luck out a decent bass which went just shy of 6lbs, thanks for netting it Alan. Unfortunately I was a bit slow with the net and Alan lost one a bit smaller than mine later on. I also had another chase up a pouting I reeled in later. Typically it ignored the pouting Jon already had out for bass .
The hound fish improved throughout the day and I struggled to drag the lads away from them in the end. I clocked around 40 hounds though there were probably more caught and I was a bit preoccupied with fishing and unhooking ect.
Whatever we caught it was a great day with lots of sport and always nice to see the lads.
I still have spaces this weekend aboard Galloper from brightlingsea Essex please call 07956411528 for more information.

The lads from Norfolk police were down the other day for one of their boat matches. we went for some mixed fishing with the hope of some rays, hounds and bass. Thankfully they all made an appearance and despite a slower start than the expected we had a busy afternoon with a good few rays but current standards. Dick would have easily won if his third one hadn't snapped the trace at the net. Instead Graham took the money and deservedly so with a nice bass and roker helping with his points.
Fishing has been great the last few weeks with an abundance of fish from hounds, bass and dogs through to rays, whiting and other species.
I have spaces for groups and individuals over the weekend and coming weeks aboard Galloper from brightlingsea Essex please call 07956411528 for more information.

Fishing Report by Scott Belbin
28 Apr 2025 by Scott Belbin
The smooth-hounds continue to show in fantastic numbers from brightlingsea. Saturdays trip saw Barry, mark and Steve have the boat to themselves. I gave them options of targeting rays, bass or hounds. The lads chose to go back on the hounds as they enjoy the sport and there's plenty of time to target bass in the coming months.
Our first mark produced a few hounds of a reasonable size but I wasn't happy so we had a short move and the next mark was busy from the first cast. The tide turned and numbers just improved throughout the day. There were still plenty of dogfish, a few whiting and a couple of pouting. Barry hooked a lovely ray which snapped his trace at the net and mark caught her boyfriend a short while later. I managed to get a couple of rods out too although things were a little hectic to say the least between making tea, netting and unhooking fish and the occasional tangle as a better fish made a mess of things. We fished two rods each although it was hard to keep both in the water at the same time. As the tide eased off we called it a day guessing we had around 20 hounds each. I was surprised when I counted up on the way home that we had 93! Not bad between 4 anglers! If I'd known then I would have been tempted to stay and go for 100! In all honesty it was hard to keep tabs amongst the chaos so there's every likelihood we had a few more than I marked down. We didn't have any double figure fish but a nice sporting stamp and busy fishing.
We have seen some fantastic numbers of fish lately in places but I am fortunate enough to have some great crews, a great boat and have far more experience than most skippers in the area.
I have spaces for groups and individuals over the next few weeks both midweek and weekends. Please contact me to check availability
