We only get permission off the wives about once a year to go out on a boat so when we do we want it to be as far from the stree off the working week as possible, thats why we only ever book with Gethyn! As far as we're concerned it is the best possible day afloat you can get, he bends over backwards to make sure you have fun and enjoy the trip. Not only that but to take the time and effort afterwards to edit and email photos from the day shows that he really does like to keep his customers happy, Many thanks again for a cracking day and also for giving me my best cod and pollock to date (they were delicious!!!!) many thanks again, hope to see you soon, kind regards, Scott&Brandon

Arrived early on the day to be greeted by the skipper Gethyn who welcomed us aboard the boat My Way and went through what we would be targeting on the day and made us aware of the boats safety equipment. There were 4 of us on the boat myself and 2 Polish lads and a more experienced angler so we had plenty of room. We had asked to hire tackle and bait for the day and both were of high quality. Once at the fishing grounds we were told how to set up the rigs correctly and also how to present the baits on the hook in this case fresh peeler crabs. Anyway we all got the tackle down and sat back waiting to hit one of the smooth hounds we had been told to expect. Anyway it was not long before we heard a shriek of joy from one of the Polish lads as he hit into a nice fish and after a quick battle he was sound hauling aboard a nice double figure smooth hound. As we had room on the boat Gethyn stuck out an additional rod for the smooth hounds and also set up some light tackle for us to have a play with whilst we waited for the bigger fish to take our crabs. The little £20 rods he gave us were great fun to use and we were hauling up small Pollack and codling as well as some dogfish. Before we moved on to the next fishing ground we had a couple more smooth hounds and when we targeted the general fishing we saw a mixture of fish coming up and I also caught a small bull Huss that was great as it was the first one I had ever caught. We were all kept hydrated with cups of tea / coffee then stopped for a bite to eat with sausage sarnies and black pudding being the stable of the day. These went down a treat and we headed back to target the smooth hounds again. It was not long before the Polish lads were in again and you could see the look of despair on the more experienced anglers face as he looked set to make a smooth hound blank. Sensing this Gethyn got the spare rod baited up again and was soon into a fish he passed the rod and fish over to the more experienced angler and you could see his face light us as he knew he had a big fish on the other end and battle commenced... We were all soon greeted with the sight of a beautiful smooth hound at the side of the boat and this was gently hauled aboard inside the skippers gigantic net unhooked / weighed / photographed and placed back in the sea in as quick a time as possible, The fish weighed an impressive 20lb's and was the biggest I had seen whilst out at sea. I was rewarded shortly after with my first smooth hound and was made up to add another species to my landed list. The day was cracking and being a novice I was talked through everything and the skipper made every effort to make sure all on board had a good day. Thanks again and sorry to witter on but it were a great trip and I will be booking again in the near future. Thanks Gethyn and all aboard.

Booked a smooth hound trip along with along with a few mates all experienced anglers all be it one being a fluff chucker on his first ever boat trip. Gethyn went out of his way to help make it a memorable trip for the guy. 9 double figure smooth hounds plus numerous other species landed, great food and company. They don't do 6 stars so will have to settle on 5.

Skippers Reponse: Cheers for that Roy, much appreciated. Was a good session and we even got Jack a PB happy days. see you soon,

I had never been fishing before, and was invited along by my dad. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the day, and the 8 hour outing seemed to fly by in no time at all. The crew were friendly and made you feel right at home, as well as offering helpful tips throughout, and didn't once get irate at my lack of knowledge! With the helpful advice of the skipper, I landed my first smoothy in no time at all, and was made up. Food was made for us halfway through the trip, hot drinks were constantly offered, and jokes exchanged throughout. I never saw myself as enjoying fishing, but after a 8 hour outing on My Way, my whole perception has changed and I cannot wait to book another trip and get back out there! When anybody landed a fish, a photo was taken by Gethyn to add to his online gallery, so that you could look at your catch in HD later on, and even though my first catch was a dogfish, which is nothing special, Geth still made me feel great by making a fuss of my first catch. All in all, I loved the whole experience. I would recommend ANYONE to go and try it for themselves, regardless of if you have never been fishing before or are a seasoned pro. A++++

Skippers Reponse: Cheers for the very kind words mate, it was great fun. Even dogs can be fun when latched onto the right tackle :D
