This is the 4th annual boat match in which his Southend Postal Sea Angling friends have competed in his memory after Cancer unfortunately took his life. Out on Shady Lady 2, from Leigh, Skipper Ray Martin as usual put the anglers straight on the fish. All the anglers aboard were getting constant bites & fish all day with many Dogfish, Bass and Smoothhounds. Ten of the 15 Smoothhounds caught averaged at 6-8lb but 2 fish weighed in at 12lb 8oz (by Paul Elston) and 15lb 1oz. (by Gary Tidd) The scoring was done on a points basis with Ray Martin winning with 143pts despite making the bacon rolls and constant teas, followed in 2nd place by Gary Tidd and Paul Elston was 3rd. Heaviest fish was won by Gary Tidd. A great day had by all, Ken must of been smiling on us. Many thanks Gary Tidd. Southend Postal Sea Anglers.

What a fantastic day, the sea was calm and the sun was out, soon as we stepped on to the boat the kettle was on and it didnt stop there. when the fishing started Ray (the skipper) and his crerw mate, couldnt of been any more attentive, they were always on hand for any questions, help and great advice for when you got a large fish on, which was fantastic for a inexperienced sea angler like myself. The constant supply of tea and coffee and best of all the fresh cooked bacon rolls in the morning and hot sausage rolls for lunch everyone loved them (awsome) The fishing was even better though, mackeral fishing was great fun but a large smooth hound topped my day off (loved it) this my second trip with ray and shady lady 2 now cant wait to book the 3rd

It is not very often that you come accross a skipper like Ray and his crew, they were excellent! They were always on deck when fishing, being attentive offerring help and guidence when required. With a constant supply of tea and coffee + the odd "dog roll" you could not ask for anything more. (Except Carrot Cake). The fishing was good and everyone on the charter sung his praises. Definitely the "Dogs Bollacks"

A great day out. six inexperienced anglers went out and all caught fish. The captain and mate are very knowlegable and always happy to give advice. plenty of bacon rolls and tea were a welcome bonus. we have re-booked for december and will also book more trips next year. all in all a great day out was had. the homemade carrot cake was a bit of a let down though lol.
