Yes Gary, you are right it was the coldest days fishing ever. We had sympathy for the guys on the other boats as they didn't quite have the the level of facilities and protection from the weather as we did on the Discovery. Dispite the weather we still managed a few flatties and whitting. We are already looking at rebooking to try our hand again. Thanks to Gary and Eric for doing their upmost to make upfor the exceptional conditions and making the day memorable, it certainly was. See you soon Glyn

Skippers Reponse: cheers glyn i think next time should be warmer(summer)

Well where do I start? Perfect weather for the previous week it had been below zero and not rained. The day it was clear and the sun out and the water as flat as it could be. Out at 10.00am and onto the fishing spot in about 5 minites, no problem with this boat as it has the power to get you were you wanted to fish fast. All in and fished for a couple of hours well some of us did as several of the lads supplied the ground bait :-) but fish were about as Daz and Gary proved on several occasions but for some reason we just could not seem to hit them. Well out come the warm pies and a brew which cheered us up and then Gary lifted the anchor to fish at a different spot which was great as some of the lads started catching fish. Great way to boost confidence when people see fish being caught, with a nice brew in our belly we then went back to the original spot to take on these Mersey cod once again. Then it started becoming interesting as the cod started to appear and it was game on. I was like a demented cat on a mission as several of the lads including myself had new gear and they needed to be christened. Jimmy was the first to christen his rod with some nice cod and others followed. Daz was on a role and caught several more fish but he was uptiding and either a spawny git or a good fisherman, will go with the latter. (sorry Daz :-) This was where I came in as I had bought a new uptide rod and reel and was desperate to christen it and even at one point pinched Daz's spot to try for the prime target of the day. Well a lot of swearing and cursing and a rub of Daz's shoulder and help from Gary I had action, fish on and I was grunting like the old man that I am (better put that in Mal ;- ) but lots of advice on how and what to do to reach my goal and a lovely cod on the boat and to top it all the best fish of the day. (Gotta thank Gary for that fish) What more can a man ask for :-} Rod and reel well christened and will be the only rod and reel I fetch for future unless wrecking. All I can say is this is the second time we have fished off this boat and not the last as the crew are brilliant, you just need to listen to them and you will have the best chance of a fish.We will be fishing with them again in a short while just waiting for Gary to come back to me with dates and cannot wait as we will hopefully be fishing off the wrecks but do not care to be honest as in good hands where ever we fish. Once again Gary/Daz a big thank you from all the lads as you have even enticed a couple of young ones to boat fish who never fished before as they will be coming on the next trip. Not bad huh? Cheers. Dave

Skippers Reponse: Cheers for that Dave, See you again soon. Gary

A good day with Garry, a good boat and a skipper who finds the fish and looks after your creature comforts with hot pies and regular tea and coffee, great on a cold frosty day. After two trips where i was outfished by everyone else finaly got my act together and caught four cod, three pound to over for pounds. This is the first season i have tried the Mesey and i have found it a great Winter day out, 10mins steam to the fishing and fishable in nearly any wind. I can highly recomend Garry, just check the marina lock times when you book or you could be in for a 4.00am start

Skippers Reponse: cheers geoff see you soon

Good days fishing again!! Poor conditions meant the fishing was slow with lots of rainwater in the catchment, however, cod of almost 5lb and plenty of them meant we didn't go hungry at tea time!! Lousy weather is made much easier when you can get under cover with heating and a warm pie for a break from the conditions. Good effort lads, great moves to the right marks at the right times! Catch you soon, Steve

Another amazing day on board discovery with Gary and Daz put us on the codling from the start. Garys knowledge is second to none - i have been going boat fishing for the last 15 years and he is by far and away the best skipper i have ever been on board with and the boat is amazing this charter is easily the best charter out of Liverpool and with the speed of this boat i dont even bother driving to north wales to fish anymore as Gary can get Discovery there quicker than i can drive !!!! We had an amazing day catching codling whiting and plaice i really cant wait for the offshore fishing trips. I have been out on discovery and Gary never fails to get us on the fish he really does go the extra mile see you soon Gaz cant wait Matt

My son and I enjoyed a fantastic day's fishing, catching thornback rays and lots of cod as well as the doggies. We still find it hard to believe this is possible in calm water in winter within sight of the Liver Building. We cannot praise Gary and his crew highly enough. Great day to be repeated soon I hope. Paul Durrington

Skippers Reponse: Thanks very much Paul its great to know you enjoyed your day with us.We look forward to see you in the near future.
