Well where do i start !!!!! What an absoutely amazing day on board discovery we set off from the marina at around 6.30am and off out towards the bar we were initally going to fish for tope but it was blowing too much on the marks we wanted to fish and on the advice of the skipper we moved to a few different wrecks catching ling pollack mackerel pouting doggies gurnard ( grey red and tub ) cod whiting bull huss. We then moved off and anchored up and continued to catch more huss pollack and huss. I also lost a nice eel which i was gutted about ! All in all we had an excellent day with gary daz and eric on hand to help when ever we needed it with brews always on hand ! Gary worked al day to get us on the fish and some of the best catches of the day included rays to 10lb, huss to over 14lb nice cod and pollock and a massive Tub gurnard which was well over 4lb we will definately be back on discovery in the near future and can easily say that this is the best boat and skipper in liverpool !!! well done gary and lads on running a totally professional oufit cant wait for the next trip.

Skippers Reponse: It was great having you guys out with us. Shame about the eel but we can always catch it again. Look forward to seeing you all again soon.

Had a cracking day with all the lads day out fishing. That's me holding the Tope that I'd caught. This was my 1st time fishing and landed a whopper with the help from all the crew. I'd like to thank Gaz, Daz and Dave for a brilliant day to remember. We're going to rebook another trip soon but I doubt I'll be able to catch another that size. The crew were amazing and made every effort to make sure all the lads were catching fish and kept on moving to different wrecks for the different variety of fish. Looking forward to see you all again to the crew of the Discovery.

Hello Gary, Sean and Daz. We sailed out of the marina at around 10 .30am on June 4th to stunning views of the straights in North Wales with the weather being idyllic. None of our party had ever done any form of sea fishing before and were all unsure of what to do. The two crew on board put us all instantly at ease with their confidence in their boat, tackle and local fishing knowledge to the point that we all just sat back and enjoyed the ride. Life just couldn't get any better until of course we hit the fishing grounds. The two crew had all the fishing rigs set up and within 5 mins we were all fishing and catching almost straight away. Sean and Darren's work didn't end there, they worked tirelessly to keep us going, sorting tangles, demonstrating hooking techniques and most importantly unhooking fish which at one point became ludicrously frequent with as many as four to five fish being landed at once. The lads didn't once lose patience with us novices at all, which didn't go unnoticed within our party and served to improve our experience further. After a couple of hours we moved fishing grounds, which to be honest served as a welcome break from the frantic start and a chance to get some grub down your neck before starting again. Even when travelling Sean's work didn't stop, serving up hot drinks whilst Darren sailed the boat. Once arriving at the new grounds, battle again commenced with a hive of activity from the now slightly less amateurish novices that had arrived in the morning. The banter amongst the lads grew and grew as larger and larger fish were pulled on board with a sweep stake up for grabs to the winner. This eventually climaxed when big Dave pulled in a 13 1/2lb 'bull huss' (I think that's what they called it lol still a novice...) which although at the time we all thought anyone could be beat, but it ended up serving to be the winner. By late in the day we considered ourselves to be more experienced than the shark catcher from Jaws, while the Daz and Sean eased off and let us unhook and bait ourselves only giving help when called upon, which again enhanced our experience. The final flourish came late on with some large thornbacks being pulled aboard and stories being swapped about the ones that got away and the winner that never was. Arriving back at the marina Gary was on hand dock side to make sure we had a great day and smiled knowingly at our stories of the Moby dick being landed. Back on dry land, battle hardened and punch drunk, we had all hoped for a monster tope but it weren't to be today but I can assure you we will be back to try again. Cracking day, cracking fishing, cracking boat and cracking lads, thanks for all you help and I'm sure we'll see you again soon as the talk is now of the cod season in the Mersey, they won't know what's hit them lol. Pete- Superman Pants. Cheers.

Skippers Reponse: Thanks for that Pete. We both had a great day aswell. Hope to see you all again soon. Daz P.S DONT BRING THE SUPERMAN SHORTS NEXT TIME WE MIGHT GET MORE FISH!!!

went out to the channal today on the discovery what a days fishing we had we took along two friends that had never fished before exspecting to be doing there rigs and baiting up for them but never once did i have to touch there rods or bait as skipper gary was there on hand to give them all the right advise and show them how to put there bait on i was very impressed with this as they took all that advise off him and caught more fish than the rest of us it was one great day we had the option to move but decided to stay put as we were all catching fish when other boats out there was not doing to well we caught lots of codling upto 3 and a half pound we would just like to say a big thank you to gary the skipper (the man with all the no how of the river ) and his lovely wife lynne who kept us all in tea and coffee all day we will be booking again shortly

Fantastic days fishing with Gary and Daz! Having fished around the country on many boats, I can honestly say that this is by far the best boat I have ever set foot on. I have never been on a charter boat with so much space, and there is more than enough cover for all of the party in poor weather. Despite all of the meltwater in the river Gary worked hard to put the boat in the right place for each state of the tide. Great knowledge of the local area, but also North Wales too from talking to the lads. We caught all day, and took plenty of cod home, which can be seen on the photos. Coffee and tea all day too!! Great day, great crew, great boat. Booking again for Liverpool summer and the wales dates. Cheers Gary / Daz.

what a great days fishing on board discovery the skipper and crew has so much knowledge it seems to good to be true he started with a quick breifing on were we were going to be fishing then out we went when we got to our location he came out of the wheel house to show the couple of none anglers how to use all the tackle giving them tips on how to catch,i have been on lots of charter boats in my time but this was the best the skipper and crew were allways on hand to help out couple of anglers got snaged round each other gary and daz was there to sort the problem almost all the charter fishing boats i have been with the skipper would try and locate the fish and thats it,then sit in the wheel house as if to say iv had your money get on with it, not discovery the only time i seen the skipper or daz in the wheel house was to make every one tea or coffee the boat was the cleanest boat iv ever been on we all caught fish and were very happy i would recommend if your going boat fishing and want a day to remember book the dicovery

An exellent days fishing by a very knowledgeable crew we fished in the same place all day with no need to move as thre was only a few short intervals when the fishing became quiet ie slack water when crabs were quite prevailent but i still managed to catch a small edible crab which was returned safely, as the day progressed everyone caught fish,as we returned to port the total catch was 38 codling to 4lb, approx 20+ whiting and a few dabs 14 codling where kept and all the rest which where all in size where returned to grow and keep the stocks going. All in all an excellent days fishing and would highly recommend the Discovery charters to anybody who wishes to have a good days fishing and novice or experienced anglers the crew can cater for them all
