  • 21/06/2012 Fishing Report by Gareth John on Hurricane (Isle of Sheppey, Kent)

21 Jun 2012 by Gareth John

    Report on-board Hurricane

The fishing has been very good with good bags of smoothound thornback rays and bass when the weather allows us to get to the marks.
Also I have seen a few mackerel starting to show with a lot of bird activity which could also mean bass.
My regulars just cannot get enough and return almost every week the only problem is the weather just seems to let us down most weekends which is frustrating because I know good fishing is to be had .
The Medway has been producing a few bass mostly small but the odd good one with also dogs and whiting for mixed bags.
Let's just hope summer returns and. The winds drop
I will take small groups so don't worry about booking the whole boat because I love my fishing too and myself and my crewman will have a day out too
    Just give us a call

  • 21/06/2012 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

21 Jun 2012 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

Good shoals of Mackerel have arrived at Ramsgate, bringing their predators with them. We have had Tope and some cracking Bass with Will on an individuals day aboard Duke IV showing the way today with two nice Bass on consecutive casts on the old favourite lug tipped with a squid head.
The weather has been playing games with us, one minute the suns out then claps of thunder and the heavens open.
Along with the above we have been getting some good catches of Skate with Brians crew from London landing twenty between just four anglers. Some big Smoothounds around too although these fish, like the Bass, very mobile, here today gone tomorrow. Thats what keeps the fishing interesting, you never know whats gonna be on the end of the line, just keep an eye on the rod, these fish are quite capable of pulling the rod over the gunnels. Pic shows first timer, Will with the two Bass. Well done shipmate!

  • 20/06/2012 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

20 Jun 2012 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

Six good mates joined us on the Shy-Torque yesterday and fished the first of their 4 days with us in the Summer competition.

A proper summers day here at Whitby with a flat calm sea meant we could have a good run out to the "Wall" in search of the big one!

The lads had a good bag of fish each, with the heaviest fish of the day being caught by Big Sam Anderson from Beverley. His cod weighed in at 14lb 5oz and won the boat sweep of £160.00 plus a daily cash prize of £30.00 which we all made a big dent in when we reached the pub at tea time !! Cheers Sam !!

Sadly the weather here today has taken a big turn for the worse and the competition has been cancelled for the day. The lads will be back next Wednesday for their next two days where we will endeavour to find the winner again.

Pictured from the left are Big Sam from Beverley, Gary from Whitby and Mark from Scarborough.

Happy fishing lads and good luck to one and all in Whitby's biggest competition of the year !

    Rich.

  • 06/2012 Fishing Report by Lyle Stantiford on Supanova II (Weymouth, Dorset)

    Jun 2012 by Lyle Stantiford

    Report on-board Supanova II

Busy Busy from Weymouth at the moment.

Plaice fishing has been hectic with one day producing 14 fish over 4lb between 5 anglers!

Just finished a three day trip with some smashing lads from Essex who really hit it off with the variety of Weymouth's inshore fishing, their species count for the 3 days was pretty impressive. Plaice to 6lb, Turbot to 8lb, Brill to 5lb, Cod to 15lb, Bass to 6lb, Pollack, Blonde Ray, Gurnard, Pout, Dogfish, Bream, Mackerel.

All caught within 2 miles of each other!

Wrecking over the last few weeks has continued to impress, this sport should continue for 2-3 weeks before it starts to slow slightly and the inshore fishing will continue to get better and better with a bit of luck.

Thanks to all for keeping us happy skippers in Weymouth busy!

Some happy news from me is that Supanova 2 will start being built in the next month or so, she will be an 11m BWSeacat with an island wheelhouse giving you masses of deck space to enjoy.

Keep your eyes peeled for pics coming soon! Thanks to all, the new boat wouldn't be possible without your custom and Support.

Pictured is Ed avery with one of the smashing plaice coming out lately.

    Tight lines one and all,

    Lyle

  • 17/06/2012 Fishing Report by Gary Flint on Discovery (Liverpool, Merseyside)

17 Jun 2012 by Gary Flint

    Report on-board Discovery

    Sunday 17th June.

We left the marina at around 10:30am with a slight breeze blowing. We knew that at first it would be choppy, but as the day went on it would flatten. As we were half way to the first mark, Alan decided to start chumming early. When we arrived at the mark the anchor was dropped and everybody started to fish for mackeral. After a while the first of the day were brought in and after that you couldnt even get the lines to the bottom. Joeys and Jumbo mackeral came in their hundreds.
After plenty of mackeral had been brought aboard "H" decided to have a second go at catching his first and elusive Tope. The waiting finally paid off when a good few knocks on his rod and "H" hooked into his first Tope, that took off like a missile. With a few hints and tips and the dive lift lowered it was time to bring it in. When it surfaced you could see that it was nice fish. Once it was brought aboard "H" had is photos taken with it and it was weighed in the sling. The final weight was 32lb, not bad for his first ever Tope. Whilst the photos were being taken Daz, hooked into another Tope which made a very fast run away from the boat. Managing to turn the tope it proceeded back towards the boat and took a very fast dive which snapped the line. The guys who were standing next to daz as he was fighting it, said it was visibly twice the size of the one boat, when they saw it on the surface next to the boat.
With a few hours left we decided to head to a mark closer to home to go for SmoothHound, and it didnt take long for Alan to Catch a nice 6lb Starry Smooth Hound.(Even though he had spent most of the day cleaning the deck fast asleep at the front of the boat). We then moved in for Flatties, which we got straight away with a lot of nice keepers. A small codling was also brought aboard, which was good to see. Amongst the other things caught during the day were mackeral, doggies, whiting, dabs, weevers, smooth hound, codling etc.
