We headed out today on super low tides. To be honest we could have done with more tide. Flat calm and sunny 16 degrees a very pleasant day.

Headed down to the Shambles on Sunday to catch some Brill & Turbot. It fished poorly in the morning and we went plaice fishing on the muscle beds at slack tide. We landed some place. We returned to the Shambles and fished the ebb tide. It fished much better in the afternoon and we had some nice Turbot & Brill.

Plaice dominate the catches and have been caught in good numbers with many good size fish being landed up to 3lb there are lots of small ones which bodes well for the future. Bream have been illusive this is down to the unseasonal low temperatures and frosts we are getting a few have been landed and as the weather warms up which coincides with big tides this should see them in numbers. On the banks we are getting a few Rays, congers, dogs, whiting and early Mackeral.

Fished locally in Poole Bay today for Plaice. Three onboard and we landed 35 Plaice, but most were returned and we kept a few each for dinner tonight. Fabulous weather but still very cold for April with the NE winds. Off to the Shambles tomorrow to try and catch some Turbot & Brill. We had hoped to catch a Bream but don't think we will see them in Poole Bay until the next big tide.

I decided to do a half day trip to the Shambles to fish for Turbot this afternoon. Weather conditions were ideal. Landed 3 Turbot with 2 of them safely returned. The picture is not great as I was on the boat alone and doing Selfies.

Hi
View Boats Page
After a long lay off the green light to start chartering on the 29th March with 6 anglers following Covid guidance, as I have not seen my family and missed 2 x 40th birthdays and 1 engagement I am starting on Monday 12th April which falls in line with more businesses opening up inc accommodation, if you would like to spend time on the water catching the sporting Black Bream please call me as spaces are going fast. As the summer species arrive we will be putting plenty of Bass, wreck and the Shark trips, last summer / autumn we spotted Tuna off our coast so there is always a chance one may take a bait being offered for another species. What an experience that would be. Lately during the weaker tides we have had some good fun on the Spurdogs now our attention turns to Turbot for the lead up to Easter.

Report on-board Flamer IV
My first trip of 2021 was the Sakuma/Flamer IV Fish of the Month 2020 winners final.
View Boats Page
In breezy North to North Easterly winds causing a choppy sea we fished in shelter of the land.
The fishing was steady most of the day with 9 different species being caught which were Whiting, Congers, Undulate Ray, Thornback Ray, Blonde Ray, Starry Smooth Hounds, Bull Huss and the usual Pouts and Dogfish.
Ian Youngs had the best fish of the day, with a 14Ib Undulate Ray (pictured)
The score sheet was close with only an 18 point difference between 4th and 1st place.
Winner was Paul Milkins 147 points, Runner Up was Kevin Clark 135 points.
A Big Thank you to Sakuma for sponsoring the monthly prizes and goodie bags for the final.
The anglers also got the Flamer IV fish of the Month badges awarded to them. -

The weather gods were kind to us to with unbelievable fishing from the moment the anchor hit the seabed we were blessed with fish all day many double and triple shots of whiting and dogfish combos, a Smoothhound took Pete for a walk around the boat, the quality of the fish coming onboard was well above average with the best whiting at 4lb. As we were about to come home we found out that my area had entered into Tier 4 so today was my last trip of the year and thank you guys for making it a special fish filled trip.

The last trip of 2020 saw plenty of action with numerous Congers, Spurdogs, Whiting, Small Eyed Rays, Blonde Rays, Thornback Rays and the usual Dogfish. Squid and Mackerel baits proved to be most successful.

70 year old Ian is wearing the blue coat and Sakuma cap in the picture as he needed a bit of help holding up the lively spurdog.
Lets hope all this Covid - 19 situation can be sorted asap in 2021.
Happy New Year to you all.
Thanks for your continued support, All The Best, Colin, Flamer IV -

DEC REPORT - LOCKDOWN TWO AND PLYMOUTH WINTER FISHING
View Boats Page
Following the first lock down and the subsequent travel restrictions, the great British 'Staycation' did us proud and here at Patricia Rose Charters we were able to welcome many new customers from a wide range of backgrounds. We have introduced lots of families to the joys of fishing both inshore and offshore and our lady anglers have also produced some very memorable fish including 20lb plus Blonde Rays. As is common when the Blonde Rays come onto the banks, you find yourself , as with most of the year, in competition with those commercial boys who will happily take everything for profit leaving nothing for sport. Our anglers respect the fish and frequently return most big females. As a skipper, I am constantly trying to find the exact mark to drop the anchor to avoid commercial nets and deliver results for the anglers. This often means dropping, setting and resetting several times to find the fish. Just before LD2 we managed to find a patch of good fish producing lovely double figure cod. I took the boat out towards the end of LD2 to give the engines a good run and checked the same mark fishing it with a slow pitch 60 gram jig. Despite the depth and the tide I managed to land a 9lb and 11lb Cod as well as a nice Red Couches Bream. The next time I returned post LD2 with a party of paying anglers it was no surprise that the mark was netted probably taking every last decent fish off it. The start of Dec seen me pick up a SWAF SAC booking and despite the time of year we hit every mark with our target fish and more. On one drift we hit 6 different species. What a day hitting Cod, Black Bream, Ling, Coalfish, big chubb Mackerel, Pollock, Whiting, Scad, Cuckoo and Ballan Wrasse, Squid, Poor Cod, Pout, Pilchard. The weather has forced us into the Sound recently but we continue to get out and are looking forward to getting offshore again to see what the commercial boys have left us. Thanks for your support in 2020, tight lines, merry Christmas, stay safe and here's to a better 2021.UPCOMING INDIVIDUAL SPACES ONBOARD Patricia Rose
