    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Still having problems with the good old british weather decided to go today as much calmer start today with the knowledge that later on was going to be touch and go. Forcast was 50 to 60 mph in the chanel so wasnt going to be the best of days. Needed the shelter of the cliffs again so back to same old ground, slightly stronger tide today so better for our inshore codling. The elements were certainly against us bloody rain was like stair rods at times didnt let up for hours bit testing really. In the end rain cleared for a while few fish came aboard one or two nice keepers ended up with 22 in total , few on the limit thrown back well done boys for the conservation . Some pin whiting appeared as usual as water slackened off, once again the dreaded weed came on but today only lasted about a hour or so thank god. Ws a good day all round picture here of Barrys team regulars on High Flyer and also Panky and Eddy from Cambridge many thanks guys for bit of a testing day. As the wind was now gusting over 40mph we headed in just as the lightening pinked up the sky and the heavens opened perfect timing to end the day all home safe and sound. Cheers lads see you all soon,
    Jon. (High Flyer)

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Todays trip was touch and go due to forcast being all over the place , warned the boys about a bit lumpy getting out the harbour and to our destination but would be ok and fishable when we hid up under the cliffs. The wind was strong south west but on the ebb really comfortable where we were the only place we could be really so not alot of choice today. We started off within minutes a nice cod for Andy pictured here estimated between four and five pound picture doesnt do it justice to be honest being first time on the boat was very pleased for him. Few whiting came aboard here and there along with other codling. only 8 keepers today was bit slow and the weed proved a serious pain today well done to the lads for putting up with it , was really quite stressfull! Big thanks to Bills party regulars on the High Flyer, sorry about a slowish day today guys i know thats fishing but lets hope next time few skate in the bag or some nice bass will do. All the best.
    Jon.

  • 03/2015 Fishing Report by Scott Belbin on Galloper (Brightlingsea, Essex)

    Mar 2015 by Scott Belbin

    Report on-board Galloper

I’m sure you don’t need reminding but march has been a windy month on the whole for us. Thankfully we have been blessed with some great sheltered fishing. The river has been fishing really well at times with some of the best fishing I’ve ever seen in there in march. We’ve save several days in there with good numbers of codling, plenty of whiting and even the odd thornback ray. Our best trip in the river was 50 codling for the day along with plenty of other odds and sods. In fact that particular day was fine enough to get much further down but the lads chose to stop in the river which was the right choice on the day. further down has been producing even higher numbers at times with fish of 2-4lbs average its great sport on light tackle. We should see these fish and perhaps one or two larger fish for a while yet but the numbers will start to peter out over the coming weeks. Thankfully the rays are starting to show in numbers now which is a sure sign that spring is on its way. The other day on another windy trip we managed to find a few rays to keep us busy. The action was good throughout the day and there were several fish around double figures with the biggest falling to Arthur at 12lbs. we totalled 47 for the day along with lots of whiting and a couple of codling. The rays should be around in good numbers from now until sometime in June. Looking ahead spring is on its way and we should see a fair variety over the next month. We should start with a mix of rays and codling before seeing a few bass mixed in as the month goes on and maybe even the odd smooth-hound too. for more information, weekly reports and availability please visit www.essexseafishing.co.uk or call 07956411528
pictured is Saunders with a tagged roker we had the other day. we have had 4 or 5 over the years with various tags. the details were passed on to cefas and she was returned alive

  • 29/03/2015 Fishing Report by Sam Cumming on Silver Spray II (Poole, Dorset)

29 Mar 2015 by Sam Cumming

    Report on-board Silver Spray II

Spring is well under way and so are the fish that come with it. We have seen the start of the pollock out on the wrecks with plenty of sprats marking for them to feed on as well as small cuttle fish. The first flatfish of the year have hit the deck with turbot, brill and plaice all making an appearance on our first trip down west. It is the first season that I have caught a brill before turbot on the banks, I usually think later in the year is better for them. We haven’t had any monsters yet but I think we should start seeing a few bigger ones after this big spring tide coming up this weekend. I’ve mentioned it in the last couple of reports but even now, when they have usually disappeared, the spurdogs are still plentiful out on the banks. Just yesterday the staff from Greenoke Energy managed 14 spurs to 21lb along with 11 blonde rays to 28lb in a day that was none stop action start to finish. I’ve started to use 6/0 circle hooks pretty much all the time for this sort of catch and release fishing as they leave the fish unharmed with the hook point always settling in the corner of the mouth and not further to the back.

  • 27/03/2015 Fishing Report by Rich Ward on Shy-Torque III (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

27 Mar 2015 by Rich Ward

    Report on-board Shy-Torque III

This last weekend was a complete washout with strong winds and heavy showers here at Whitby.

We did however manage to sneak a day in last Friday between weather systems and the 5 lads chartering the boat had a very enjoyable days sport with Cod to just over 9lbs and pollack to just over 7lbs.

The ground and wrecks on the 9 mile providing the majority of the sport. The shads and the frozen squid doing the damage.

Pictured with a nice pollack is Jason from Market Raisen, Lincs.

With the Spring festival fast looming up ( starting this coming Saturday 4th ) we're all hoping that the weather will finally turn for the better for us all and we can take to sea a lot more than of late. We still have spaces in the comp so drop me a line, mail or text to arrange a day where you will be in with a chance of grabbing a very nice £1000.00 in cash!!

    Tight lines as ever
    Rich

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Well......!! after two days of wind, the Vanishing Point=-2 was the only charter boat out of our port.
As you might have seen yesterday's party had a good time and caught Codling and Skate, and they appreciated the hard work me and my wife Nicola out in to catch them as many fish in the toughest conditions, so much so.....!! they didn't want it to end.

So they called two hours after leaving the boat to make another booking, (Thanks lads, we had a really goo time with you too).

But today with winds forecast at over 40 mph, my guys thought we would like all other charter boats have to cancel.!! but looking at what we did on Saturday with winds up to 30 mph, I decided to leave so we would arrive on the fishing mark just at high water..!!! in the sure knowledge that when the tide turned, we would have 6 hours of good fishing in relative calm conditions, and that is just how it turned out, and we fished until the tide died, then with some really nice fish in the boxes, we returned to Bradwell with a really happy party, in the knowledge they were on the only boat to be able to get out when the wind blows..!!! after all we were a wind farm vessel for 2 years..!! working seas of up to 3 metres... so 1 metre in the Thames Estuary does't phase
    us in the least.

Well tomorrows party are all rearing to go, so watch this space guys n gals for more red-hot action off of the Vanishing Point-2 .... as Arnold Schwarzenegger says......... (I'll be back) and we are....!!!! .
