    Report on-board Mistress

We had a fairly steady day yesterday (23/3/15), here on the ‪uptiding‬ grounds at ‪whitby‬.

With the tides being a bit on the big side we headed to spot where we haven't been in a while in the hope for a few better fish, we found a few too. we moved as we needed to, but were a bit hampered by the wind over the tide,

we still found fish for everyone on board. some doing better than others, a few lads managed over ten fish a piece, returning anything under 40cm, we were surprised by the stamp of the fish though as quite a few were over 4lb the best going around 7lb.

prospects for the next week as the tides drop away look good for wrecking, so if you fancy a trip out to wrecks give us a call on 07977 436903,

    tight lines, Rich

    Report on-board Sea Otter 2

Its late march but the uptiding is still fishing well a big blow saturday with a big tide a perfect ingredient to throw more fish tide inshore and today was our first chance after the blow to get back at it and once again as it has done all winter the uptiding has not disapointed.

More or less all regular lads on sea-otter 2 they know just what to expect and it wasnt long before the fish were hitting the deck best angler today was gary arckle gary had 26 codlings himself but returned some he is allaways on fire with the uptiding everybody onboard got into the fish some bonny codings and they are all in excellent condition,

Gary with a few of his fish.

    Report on-board Out The Blue

Good start to the spring season after being beaten up for the last few months by gale force 6 and 7's sneaking up behind us. A trip out with my Polish friends yesterday, and a north-easterly 5 down to nothing in the afternoon, with blinding sunshine and flat sea. All topped off with some quality fish ... plenty of Ling, Cod, Pollock, Coalfish and Whiting. Let's hope this is a sign of good things to come!

    Tight lines everyone!

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Good news guys n gals!!.... the Codling are thick on the ground and Skate are being caught with increasing numbers.

But as I said before, Lug worm is a must, so I am afraid you will have to bit the bullet and send another £15 for a 100 worms, unless you where to buy them for less, but do try to get fresh worms, and not tanked, all they are is skin filled with water, you put a hook in them and they just pop like a balloon all the water pisses out and you don't have a lot left..!

    Tight lines....!!!!!

  • 03/2015 Fishing Report by Ross Parham on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)

    Mar 2015 by Ross Parham

    Report on-board Spot On!

    Wow!
What a few days we have been having out of Brixham wreck fishing on board Spot On!

The fishing has been simply fanatic with superb quality and quantity of Pollock and Ling with some of the very best wrecking trips I have had the pleasure of skippering and enjoying these great days with some really great anglers on board.

Although the weather has been tricky at times I have had to use my skills to be 'Spot On' and get the anglers lures and baits in the right places and of course the right wrecks also helps.

Catches have also seen a fair few small codling which hopefully means we may have a good year on the Cod as this is the earliest I have caught Cod in the last couple of years.

A few drifts on the skerries on the way home also produced a few Plaice which is good to see, so in April we should be into the start of another great season on the banks, to add to the great fishing that is available from Brixham on board Spot On.

Remember Spot On is Brixham's and the south wests premier charter boat with consistent results and catching fish others simply dream of as the pictures show, all the photos you see on my website and here are no older than 2013, not bad considering 2013 was just weekend charters only!

April should see the wreck fishing continue well with Pollock, Ling and whiting being the main target species but we will start to see more Cod catches as the month goes on. The skerries will also be a target for the spring Plaice and other summer species shouldn't be far behind.

The first of the many trips to the channel islands (Guernsey) will also take place at the end of April and I cant wait to get stuck into the summer!

My calendar is filly very fast but please feel free to contact and I will do my best to get you out on the water and experience the best fishing available in the English channel.

Pictured is Novice angler Mark who was out on his first ever fishing trip and using a hire rod and armed with a rattleback sidewinder lure hooked this monster Ling of 36lb 4oz.

Spot On Fishing is just 10 minutes from Brixham and has a large selection of quality tackle and bait that we use on board to catch these great fish and is well worth a visit.
It stocks Sea fishing tackle only and is well known for quality fresh and frozen bait.

  • 19/03/2015 Fishing Report by Rich Cope on Mistress (Whitby, North Yorkshire)

19 Mar 2015 by Rich Cope

    Report on-board Mistress

With a lift in tides, I decided to play it safe and stay inshore, knowing we would be able to get among a few fish. It can be a bit hit and miss sometimes offshore if the water isnt quite right.

Needless to say, we took a steady picking all day long really, moving if nothing was happening in any one place, a couple of the shots we stopped at saw a good bit of action, with Mistress regular Tony Barret nailing two on the same pennel rig!

The lads managed to boat around 70 codlings today, returning a good few under 40cm, they all left happy,
Plenty of fish in the 2-3lb bracket with the a few bigger ones thrown in, the biggest going 5/6lb for Ken from Malton, well done mate!

  • 19/03/2015 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

19 Mar 2015 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

At last the weather has been good enough to get out and despite the conditions deteriorating throughout the day we manage a reasonable catch with Codling and some quality Whiting. There are lots of Herring passing through at the moment, this of course draws the Cod up in the water making them difficult to catch.
Skate are arriving now also some big Bass being caught in the nets, again they are more interested in getting to wherever they are heading than feeding but if there, they are catchable.
Despite the cold wind, summer is around the corner, the crabs will be peeling and the Hounds will turn up along with Bass and Mackerel feeding on sandeels so lets make the most of this spring Cod run that should last through April when they will move offshore and settle on the wrecks hopefully giving us the best chance of Cod for some years.
