    Report on-board Lady Grace

We had a 3 hour fishing trip today with Phil, Nettie and Chris. Luckily Chris showed them how to catch and had 3 codling and 1 whiting while Phil and Nettie caught crabs and limpet shells. All cod and whiting were released to live another day despite being big enough for the dinner table

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

New years eve headed out to the Roads again not much point going anywhere else today bit of a sw wind forcast later on in the day so keeping things comfortable stayed inshore. The whiting were very few on the ground today not too many good ones either rather strange and no flatties and just the one pouting today so we were grateful for the codling. Nothing bigger than 4lb really which despite knocking it is a great size eating fish, armed today with fresh blacks specially ordered for us by Gorleston Tackle over the festive season,(well done Jason) and fresh lug together with few old peelers i found started off further south than i normally go, with few reasonable fish from the start. Caught the end of the ebb with about a dozen codling to show for it before slack. After slack we had a slow start with odd few coming in, bit too slow on the flood for my liking so decided to head up to a mud mark i like which seemed to pay off thank god! Total keepers was 47 at the last count cant remember what we threw back but reasonably good day all round wind was picking up so back in about 5.30pm. Apoligies for picture quality think the frosts killed poor camera, ordered a new one so expect picture improvements! Big thank you to all the lads especially those who helped to wash down and get rid of all that weed very much appreciated. Just leaves me to say Happy New Year to you all my customers and fellow anglers thank you for supporting me and the High Flyer throughout the year, looking forward to being of service in 2015. tight lines to you all. Jon. High Flyer.

  • 12/2014 Fishing Report by Kevin McKie on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

    Dec 2014 by Kevin McKie

    Report on-board Size Matters

Species caught: Cod, Dab, Dogfish, Five-Bearded Rockling, Thornback Ray and Whiting.

December was a very good month; we managed to get a total of fourteen days at sea. Most days we saw catches of 30 to 50 Cod ranging from 2lb to 4lb, and the odd bigger fish to 9lb was common, along with plenty of Whiting and Dabs.

On one of the days we were joined by Dave Lewis from Sea Angler magazine and we had a very good day catching 53 Cod from 2lb to 4lb. This should make a very good article to look out for in the coming months.

New for 2015, we will no longer be running the Fish of the Month competition. Instead we will be doing a loyalty scheme for our regular customers. As we value your business, we would like to give something back. For every 10 individual charter trips you go on you will get your 11th trip for free!! That’s 10% discount.

    Notable charters:

    01/12/14 – We totalled:
    54 Cod (keepers)
    1 Thornback Ray
Along with plenty of Whiting, Dabs and Dogfish.

    13/12/14 – We totalled:
    45 Cod (keepers)
    And lots of Whiting.

    30/12/15 – We totalled:
    53 Cod (keepers)
And lots of Whiting and Dabs.

Fish of the month goes to Bernie Forshaw with his 9lb 1oz Cod! Well done Bernie you win a free charter to use whenever you wish!

We would like to thank all our customers for their support during 2014. Let’s hope 2015 is even better!

Happy new year and all the best!

  • 12/2014 Fishing Report by Gethyn Owen on My Way 2 (Holyhead, Isle of Anglesey)

    Dec 2014 by Gethyn Owen

    Report on-board My Way 2

With a blustery forecast todays trip was cancelled, so last Sunday was our last trip of 2014.
It was a great fun trip with a good bunch of local anglers ready to get out and feel the fresh air following Christmas over indulgence! With everyone on board and keen to get out it was quickly decided to run a fun match, mainly for the most points but also with a little hunt for a mixed bag of species, see how many we could locate during a cold winters day in December. Thankfully the fish played ball and in total the 7 anglers on board caught over 400 fish between them, with Welsh International Anglers Dewi, Arthur and Chris all making the top spot number one target.

Species wise, we caught well, the bags were predominalty great sized whiting and dogfish, but we also managed to add some lovely pollack and coalies to a few lb on the drift and at anchor, codling, poor cod, pout, rockling and dabs, with 21 huss coming aboard ranging from a mere 8oz to a more respectable inshore weight of around 8 lb.

Eventual winner was Dewi Roberts, taking the match from Arthur by 5 points. Dewis skills at finding the huss, worth the max points a little better this day as Arthur actually caught 3 more finish, but found himself bumped down into 2nd place for the day.

A great day, plenty of fish, food and too many laughs, most of which cannot be mentioned here :D
