    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Forcast today was no wind plan was to head out to one of the banks but due to the tide i decided to fish inshore to start best idea i had! The wind got up to our surprise but with tide was fine but we knew after lunch was going to be different story. Plenty of different baits aboard we started well with the doggies showing up straight away all sizes most of the day really. Nice few flatties on the menu too from the start and then our first skate came in nearing the end of the flood so bigger baits stuffing herring into the squid making up various crab cocktails seem to pay off. The dreaded whiting still about being a pain along with tiny codling kept being a nuisance throughout also some very small smoothounds came over the side too nice to see. When the tide turned conditions gradually became uncomfortable so decided to head home about 4ish. Picture of our keepers back in port as too lumpy out at sea for pictures, was a most enjoyable day great to see a few skate, good banter all round, thanks to Chris and Dave for washing down much appreciated, also Terry and Collin and first timers Rob and John hope to see you all soon. Cheers me, Jon. (High Flyer)

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Was a very calm day today with no wind for once, calmest i seen it this year so far. Decided due to the strong tides to try drifting on the 6 mile bank after few attempts nothing felt like being tempted by our varied baits so another tactic was needed. Headed up the northeren end of the middle cross to a alley way gulley i found productive many a times which resulted in Paul pictured here with a nice bass, few dogs and flatties. Moved few times around to follow the tide ended up off the wind turbines which produced absolutley nothing very surprised can only blame the strength of the tides. Came home down the Roads and called in at a little hole i know which finished the day off lovely with first of the smoothounds appearing only small but nice to catch, more doggies along with pesky whiting and a nice four and half pound cod again to Paul to finish the day off. Thanks to Paul, Jez, Keith and Derek a most enjoyable day thought we all done well despite the strong tides was a just great to have a flat calm day for once! Cheers men. Jon.

  • 04/2014 Fishing Report by Simon Fisher on Becca Marie (Brixham, Devon)

    Apr 2014 by Simon Fisher

    Report on-board Becca Marie

Well its been a funny few weeks for us, unfortunatly most of our wreck fishing trips were cancelled due to strong winds, while the inshore reef and bank trips seemed to get the calmer weather, we did manage a few inshore wreck fishing days which were very productive, bringing in plenty of Pollock, not massive but up to 9lb. ( ideal dinner size).. We did venture to a favourite inshore wreck of mine and had our first Bass of the year which was a very welcome sight........We also started our regular reef trips at anchor and managed to catch, whiting, coddling,Bullhuss,Thornback Ray and a truck load of doggies which was i great start and can only improve..... Our regular trips to the Skerries Banks has seen it improve on every trip, we are now catching many Plaice over 2lb and bagging 30+ of keeper Fish aswell as return many smaller Plaice, we have also seen some small Gurnard coming up along with many many small whiting.

Coming up we have planned more trips to the Skerries and our trips to the Reefs aswell as offshore Wrecking so check out our calender and come and join us.

  • 04/05/2014 Fishing Report by Nick Gough on Skylark (Scarborough, North Yorkshire)

4 May 2014 by Nick Gough

    Report on-board Skylark

a Nice days fishing with a good set of lads.

set off at 9.30 with unpleasant sea conditions and rain headed south to a wreck 5 mile from Scarborough, then we headed further south to wrecks a bit further off and we managed to get a fish nothing big but enough to keep us busy we managed to get a few ling and i got a nice Pollock on a shad then the sea deteriorated a bit more so we decided to have a go fishing in ravenscar.

we were greeted by a small pod of porpoises which were feeding with their calf nearby. fishing started slow as the tide was hardy through, then as the tide picked up we all managed to get a few nibbles and a few fish. we were plagued with small lobsters but we were still managing to pick up a few fish around the 2-3 lb mark and a plump lessor spotted dog fish. then a few seals came in to see what we were doing and the fishing slowed down again.

unfortunately one of the anglers just couldn't seam to get a bite never mind a fish.

so as fishing slowed we decided to give cloughton a go, with in minutes the poor lad who just couldn't understand his luck and managed to wind two cod in one after the other.

by this point the weather picked up and the sea flattened off and we had a nice steam back.

  • 05/2014 Fishing Report by Ross Parham on Spot On! (Brixham, Devon)

    May 2014 by Ross Parham

    Report on-board Spot On!

Wreck fishing is still going strong from Brixham if you do the distance.

Great to see more Cod than Pollock caught on one trip and with the Ling and whiting still around its been a good, Cod are small at the moment, a few double figure ones in the mix but with the average fish around 5-7lb mark, next few weeks will see the bigger specimens turning up.

Remember Spot On is Brixhams premier charter boat and will always keep you up to date with catches and reports, just check out the catches so far this year already.

Skerries bank is still fishing with good numbers of plaice being caught, also the first small Bass was caught on a recent trip so things are looking to be a great Summers fishing on board Spot On.

Sorry for the lack of photos as I was flat out with the net this weekend as my crew was unwell.

Spot On is on Facebook where you can see anglers who have been, caught and conquered the fishing on Spot On.
