    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Had a great day out on Saturday the 11th of October with with John on the High Flyer My first time out with the skipper with my Dad. My dad says Jon is one of the best skippers he has been out with and he has been out many times with different skippers from all over the UK . He was helpful and and provided a good flow of drinks chocolate biscuits and top cup a soups,The boat was clean, fast and plenty of space for everyone. We had a steady stream of fish all day. The company and banter was great all day it was a shame that Dave kept having to show Jon what cod looked like!!! A first class day and for sure we will be back again thanks a ton Jon and look forward to next time. If you get the chance book up with Jon you will not be disappointed.

  • 31/10/2014 Fishing Report by Kevin McKie on Size Matters (Craobh Haven, Argyll & Bute)

31 Oct 2014 by Kevin McKie

    Report on-board Size Matters

    Species caught.
Conger Eel, Whiting, Pouting, Cod, Pollack, Ling, Mackerel, Sprat, Thornback Ray, Dogfish, Bullhuss, Dab, Gray Gurnard and Poggie (hook nose).

October was a very good month for Brigand, offshore we where still catching all the summer species. Inshore the cod season had started with a bang, seeing catches of up to 32 sizeable cod per trip, along with thornback rays, whiting, dabs and dogfish.
On one trip in the Mersey in October, we caught a very rare species of fish. Never seen on brigand before it's called a Poggie, also known as a hook nose. It just goes to show you never known what you are going to catch, that's the thing I love about fishing.

Fish of the month goes to Francis Warilow, from Liverpool with his 25lb 8oz Conger Eel, that was returned to fight another day. Well done Francis you win a free individual charter to use when ever you wish.

    Notable charters.
On the 16th, we had seven anglers from Taskers angling onboard for there monthly trip. The lads fancied having a go for the cod and rays in the Mersey, they caught.
    26 Cod from 2lb to 3lb 3oz,
    6 Thornback Ray to 8lb,
    Whiting, Dab and Dogfish.

On the 30th, we had a full boat of individual anglers onboard. I told the lads the Mersey was fishing well, for cod and rays. We didn't get many rays, but we did get into the cod. Here is what they caught.
    32 Cod to 3lb 10oz,
    2 Thornback Ray 9lb 8oz,
    Whiting and Dogfish,

    Regards
    Kevin Mckie

  • 05/11/2014 Fishing Report by Bob Marshall on Duke IV (Ramsgate, Kent)

5 Nov 2014 by Bob Marshall

    Report on-board Duke IV

Bring plenty of bait as the sea off Ramsgate is brim full of fish, with as usual lots of Doggies along with Whiting, many being classed as Channel Whiting so up to 2lb in weight.
Codling have arrived with fish in the 1-3lb range along with a few better size fish.
The Skate that have been around all summer are still here with fish up to l0lb fairly common. Last Saturdays group of individuals had a good day with all species with Kym an accomplished Carp angler leading the way with 3 Skate up to 9lb l2oz, a female Skate that Kym chose to release.
Bass and Smoothounds are passing through our area on their way South, always a welcome catch although we are concentrating more on the Cod that are the target species on most anglers wish list.
Bait, squid and lugworm for Cod with herring chunks for Skate and Whiting.

  • 30/10/2014 Fishing Report by Colin Cooter on Emma Jayne (Chichester, West Sussex)

30 Oct 2014 by Colin Cooter

    Report on-board Emma Jayne

The weather was slightly drizzly as we left our winter mooring in Chichester Marina but it definitely didn't dampen the spirit to get out and catch some decent fish.

The whiting are in and was a great start to the day getting a few of them in for the lads dinners. The whiting were also accompanied by a couple of nice rays, one small-eyed and one thornback.

On the change of the tide we went out by the Nab Tower off the Isle of Wight to see if we could catch the real target species of the day. Sure enough the best catch of the day was reeled in by Steve Harber who got his prize of a 10lb 5oz cod; he was cuffed and the envy of the boat! All went home smiling as no one was left empty handed.

The cod have arrived so come on lads, lets see if we can beat Steve's catch!

  • 02/11/2014 Fishing Report by TERRY BATT on Vanishing Point-2 (Bradwell Marina, Essex)

2 Nov 2014 by TERRY BATT

    Report on-board Vanishing Point-2

Nicola and I would just like to say...Wow..!!! thank you all that have logged on and emailed us with your enquiries, to book VP-2, the response has been truly amazing..!!
But as we said, we will not be back in Bradwell for a couple of weeks, so if you could bear with us just a little longer, so we dont take your booking and then because of weather, we are not back and have to disapoint you, we would rather just hang on a week or two more until we know the boat is tied up in her berth in Bradwell and ready to treat you all to the most prestigious charter boat opertaing around the country..!
I can see there are a lot of Codling about at the moment, which is a good sign of a great season to come, but looking at one report on this site, from a boat out of a local port, not too far away, and looking at the size of some of the Codling they are holding up.... that is not something I would be proud to show on any web-site even if the fish just about scrapes in at the leagal size limit, hey come on guys put the little fellows back to reach some sort of maturity please..!!!
