    Report on-board High Flyer 2

After yesterdays blow wind turned southwest stll a bit of swell on as tide flooded so decided to head south again keeping us inshore without any choice. Joined another couple of boats today nice to see people out, straight away into a codling nice keeper for Keith. Followed by a spotty dog and a whiting all within ten minutes of arriving on full flood! Stayed right up to slack water wind was quite blustery at times , ended up with few spotty dogs , numerous whiting few keepers and couple of thrown back codling extremely dark almost black in colour! Moved out to deeper water as tide started to ebb, jeff pictured here with biggest fish of the day nice smoothy around the 6 pound mark, apart from few small whiting and more spottys was quite poor on the ebb very strange. Had a final move up the top end of the Holm but getting too lumpy started dragging anchor moved right inside to finish the day off. wasnt fantastic day but had few fish all round few for the table good day had by all. Thanks to Derek for organising , along with Keith, Mike ,Chris,Paul and Jeff, much appreciated for cleaning down too! Look forward to our trips next month hopefully do some distance next time. All the best. Jon. (High Flyer)

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Lumpy old day today, touch and go really to start, left at 9am to give ourselves a chance with these strong tides. Needed to find a bit of shelter wind against tide straight southerly on the nose so hid under the cliffs at Tramps Alley end to start. Started off ok surprised to find a few early whiting few keepers among them, some spotty dogs made a appearance along with a nice plump codling. As the day progreesed we headed out to the centre of the Roads in the deeper water caught few nice smoothies biggest around 5 to 6 lb mark, few more codling all returned well done lads for a bit of conservation. Even though within size limits nice to get a meal if you are going to keep them. Len pictured here with a surprised catch of a nice eel not that common as they used to be, ended up a real species day with flattie, whiting, eel, codling ,spotty dogs and smoothies! Nothing to shout about size wise today but kept us busy , was testing a bit with the rain but lads all done well and we got fish. Many thanks to Alan , Zak and Corey from Peterborough first time on the Flyer, along with regulars Dave,Len and Paul, was enjoyable day ,look forward to seeing you all again soon. All the best, Jon. • 10/10/2016 Fishing Report by Roger Lennon on Skerry Belle (Ramsgate, Kent)

10 Oct 2016 by Roger Lennon

    Report on-board Skerry Belle

After a very successful summer, we will now be turning our attentions to cod fishing. The Goodwin sands and chalk ledges around the foreland are great areas to target early season fish. The first fish are around the 3-5lb bracket, with the larger fish arriving in October as they follow the whiting scholes inshore as the nights draw in. Large autumn bass will also be amongst them and live whiting fished on a flowing trace can often see bass up to 15lb come to the net. Large fresh lug baits, cuttle and whole squid will get you amongst the fish. Remember all top quality bait can be supplied to you onboard. Just ask when booking. To book a cod trip and for best tides, contact Roger direct to the boat on 07805250427 Tight lines and hope to see you onboard soon, Roger

    Report on-board Seren y Mor

Fishing has been hard during August with the mackerel disappearing and the winds returning. Main fish being caught are the ever obliging Huss and rays. Bream are starting to show again and if we get a spell of weather next month we should get a good finish to the summer species.

    Report on-board Spot On!

Spot On has been out again on the skerries bank which is a very short steam from Brixham, the days fishing was steady with good numbers of Plaice coming to the net and again a nice little mark I have been fishing produced some cracking plaice over 3lb, 2 great sized dabs made a nice surprise as well.
Other speices included tub gurnards, red gurnards, grey gurnards, whiting, mackerel and dogfish.

A total of 64 plaice were boated with many f them returned to grow bigger.

Wrecking has still been producing good numbers of plump Pollock, nice Cod and some ling with the biggest going 23lb.

A rough ground trip recently produced some massive Brixham Bream with many fish over the 3lb mark, the biggest fell to Phil of a cracking fish of 4lb 10oz.

Other species included cod, Pollock, pouting, whiting, mackerel, dogfish, gurnards, conger eels and a surprise Tope for regular angler David Inns.

Pictured is Phil with his cracking REEF caught black bream of 4lb 10oz.

  • 24/08/2014 Fishing Report by Nigel Lihou on Optimist (Brixham, Devon)

24 Aug 2014 by Nigel Lihou

    Report on-board Optimist

    20th, 23rd and 24th August 2014
A few good trips this week, first off a half day reef fishing, but not a lot there so moved to an inshore wreck where a good amount of fish Pollack, Pouting and Whiting were brought aboard, with everyone having had some good sport. The 23rd found us with Father and 2 sons fishing a wreck about 10 miles out again Plenty of Pouting with Pollack and Whiting mainly on strips of Mackerel, lunchtime found the wind force increasing so a move to an inshore reef was favoured with catches including Bull Huss, Lesser Spotted Dogfish and Conger Eel being boated and returned. The day ended with a drift for Mackerel. The 24th was a half day with a family group introducing the youngsters to fishing. Anchoring over an inshore wreck proved a good move as we had a variety of species and some good fishing with the youngsters catching well, Species included: - Mackerel, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Pouting, Silver Whiting, Red Gurnard, Small Pollack, and Thornback Ray. Everyone had a good time and caught fish returning to Port vowing to return

    Report on-board High Flyer 2

Headed out today with light westerly forcast told the lads to feather up for sandeels as we left the harbour. 15 minutes later i looked a plonker as we headed into a ten foot swells of the wind farm and a strengthening northerly off the bow and after dodging a small boat i could hardly see in the lumps i ran back inside for cover yet once again! Decided to hold up in the Holes, produced a nice smoothy first off for Clive on holiday, few small followed but the weed came from nowhere making life impossible. Up anchor and headed south to Corton bank to join other charter boat weed free, caught straight away small spotty dogs, more smoothies and nice couple of skate one pictured here, with regular on High Flyer, Dave Mingay. Was very lumpy offshore so stayed inside all day but had reasonable amount of sport all round with few whiting now making a show and the odd early codling. Many thanks to Chris, mark and Andy, Clive and Dave and locals John and Dave, was good day of banter appreciate the lads with distance making the trip shame we couldnt get out but thats the weather! All the best . Jon. High Flyer
